Actually my insurance carrier offered me extended insurance-bumper o bumper up to 100k for a fraction of what the dealership was trying to offer. So you might wanna check with your insurance Company.......Anyone else gone this route??

Their price sheet is about $400 higher than what they can really offer you. I bought the 5yr/100k warranty for $1170 with 0% 18month financing. The "list" price on his sheet was like $1600.

Do some comparison shopping with 3rd party warranty companies. I've bought from WarrantyDirect.com and they have a great product. Their price was a hair cheaper but they won't cover the Navi system like the Acura Care warranty does.

i think curry acura was selling the extended warranty 3 extra years so 7 total or 100K miles for about the same price that bnandreu got his for.

Heres the other question: Do people think this is worth it? I have heard several times from people that its just a way for the dealer to make up for any negotiation you've done. It seems a tad scammy, particularly with the reliability history.

Whats the thoughts on going for it? Worth it? I'll be sitting in the hot seat soon enough so I wanna have my ducks in a row.

I would say that in most cases Acura's are very reliable but if for somereason you get little problem windowmotor or something else minor its still is going to cost you a couple 100.00 to fix. Not to mention that is an awesome resale feature. 7 years 100k. Just think you could sell the car in 2009 and it would have 3 years of warranty left. Picture yourself in the all new 09 TL. Id pay more for a used car with some warranty time left. Its money well spent.

There are a couple of factors to consider:
- you get a pro-rated refund if you get rid of the car before the extended warranty expires.
- take the money you would put into the warranty and put it away. Over the time you would take to burn up the 50k (or 5 years) your money would be earning interest (hopefully at least 5%). It's likely you would have a pretty decent size amount of money. Do you think you'll need a repair that would exceed the amount your initial investment would be worth in 5 years?

FWIW, I bought the 7/75 extended warranty for $660.

Two things I took into consideration:

1. I drive 25k miles per year and I want to keep the car at least 4yrs thus the 100k warranty and why I only went 5yrs. It's a nice safety blanket in years 3 and 4.

2. Bluetooth, Integrated NAV/Radio/AC display. New technology that if anything happens will be very expensive to fix. Acura warranty is the only warranty I know of that will cover this kind of technology.

I paid $1,700 for a zero deductible 7 yr/100,000 mile bumper to bumper from Acura. It is an Acura warranty and not a 3rd party (ie GE). From what I've seen from some of the pricing that other people have received...I guess I may have been over charged. In any case, should we not require any warranty work from years 5-7 (or after the 50K miles), we would be entitled to a full refund...which we have in writing. Anyway...hope this helps with the negotiations...oh yeah...originally...they told me that this particular warranty was selling at $2000. Once the finanance manager saw that I was going to think about it...he dropped it down another $300.00 so I probably should have asked him to drop it at least another 100...oh well. I had heard that Honda was asking for the same amount from some people that bought a Pilot...they also mentioned that they would get their money back if they didn't use it.

I paid about $450 for a 4yr/100,000 mi. warranty through Acura. I drive a lot of miles so I shortened the years down. I do have a $100 deductible however. The price on this thing started way up in the $1600 range. These are very negotiable.

extended warrantee

This is a paragraph out of the Acura warantee. It does not appear to cover the navigation unit. So for this car you get an additional coverage for an additional 3 years over the original 4 year coverage, but the major trouble spot is not covered. Am I missing something.

[I]V. WHAT IS NOT COVERED
(A) Parts other than genuine ACURA parts; wiper blades; battery and cables; belts and hoses WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE TIMING BELT; Timing Belt replacement when performed as routine maintenance; exhaust system (includes catalytic converter); brake system wear items such as brakes, drums/rotors, shoes/pads, and lining; clutch disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing, and external shift linkages WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE SHIFT CABLE; glass and body parts; body structure and other panels; bright metal; sheet metal; paint; bumpers; moldings; lenses; bulbs and sealed beams; fuses; weather-strips; outside ornamentation; wheel covers/ornaments, rims, studs; fastening and securing hardware; body seals; squeaks and rattles; buttons; carpet; dash pad; door and window handles; knobs; rearview mirror; trim; upholstery; electronic/audio accessories and cellular telephones other than GENUINE ACURA ELECTRONIC/AUDIO ACCESSORIES; navigational devices; tires; seat belts; airbag(s), and related parts, EXCEPT FOR THE SRS CONTROL UNIT (if at any time you believe there is a defect with these parts, please contact an ACURA DEALER immediately).

Do not sweat for $1700. I paid $1895 for the same. The full refund after 7 years if not used is from the dealer, at least in my case and thought this is win-win since get all $1895 back in case not used. I bought from SUnnyvale Acura. Where did you buy?

I bought the car from Oakland Acura. I would have bought from Sunnyvale since they too dropped the MSRP for a navi down to $34,700, but they didn't have black at the time...all they had was anthracite.

warantee

I got the exclusion paragraph from
http://acuraofmissionviejo.com/acura...e-contract.asp

Now I don't know if this is the real deal or not. I can not get any dealer to show me the actual warrantee until I finalized negotiations on the car (TL in this case)

I hope the component coverage list solves my dilema. Thanks for posting it.

Just wondering...are you able to get your money back if you don't claim anything once the original warranty expires?

No it's four total. However, given the fact that I drive about 30,000 miles a year I knew the time didn't matter just the mileage. I shortened it since the time didn't matter to save the money on it.
