Meathead, I remember you got 04TL pretty early, what's the last 5 digit of VIN? 14xxx? I thought you already have the ECU firmware flashed.

Whatever reasons are, you prolly have to check with your dealer. Wish this is the easy fix for them. Good luck.

I had the same problem....just go to the dealer and tell them that your car needs an ECU upgrade...also, have them check the battery...i also had some voltage failure in my battery so they replaced that...so, no need to worry...once they do the ECU upgrade, you can accelerate as hard as you like and you won't see that sign come back (unless you really tear your car up, but that's a different story lol)...

You sure it was the check engine and not the VSA. If you were on it and the light was flashing your tires could of been slipping and your VSA would flash.

I agree with Jinen. You need the ECU upgrade. I had the same problem about 6 months ago. Just make sure the dealer does it right the 1st time. It took them 3 times to get it right in my car.

Meathead

take it to your dealer and they will update your ECU...I had this problem and they fixed it pretty quickly.

My light came on today as it has before during hard driving. But today it’s stuck on. Anyone have that happen?

Does your dealer have Saturday hours? I'd take it by this morning to get it checked out!

Exclamation Same issue

I've had this light problem for months now. The dealer says they cant even get a code out of it since the lights not on anymore. My dealer assures me that my ECU does have the most recent update. And since they cant get a code they dont know whats wrong. Well after months of flashing and going off, now it stays on. Everytime after hard accelration it flashes but stays on. So i finaly got it to a dealer with the light on and said here dumbass now fix it. So they checked it out and ordered a crank shaft position sensor. They said the code was for a misfire but they have seen this problem before and this should fix it. I go back on Wed next week to have it installed then we'll see. But for all you guys that are just saying have your ECU reflashed, there might just be something more to it!

this used to happen to me in my CL, if i would floor it in 1st gear and the car lost traction for more than a few seconds the check engine light would blink. basically since the wheel hop is so bad the car actually thinks there is a misfire, thats why your light is coming on
