Engine Light?

Is it normal for the engine light to flash under hard acceleration?

Welcome to the forum

No. It's abnormal.

But, usually 04TL's MIL (check engine light) could be caused by the minor errors, this is quite common issue by 04TL so far. Check sticky thread Garage for further info. Thanks.

For safety concerns, please check with your dealer soon.

Also, check your fuel door / cap if it is not properly closed or tighten?

If your car is an early build (say, sometime before 2004) it might need an ECU update from the dealer which fixes the timing of the engine. I remember test driving a car at the dealership, pushing the accelerator hard, and seeing the flashing engine light.

Holy Shit! That is the "pre-burst" head gasket warning. The situation is particularly troublesome in the TL because as a result of the engine placement, the drivetrain can pierce the firewall, penetrate the cabin and cause the headliner to fall. You should have this checked out immediately.

Traction control ! is not unusual during hard accels. Some folks report engine light due to less than 91 octane fuel at high rpm's. Also, the ECU software upgrade is a published SB on older VIN's.
