Awesome. I knew having an audio system designed by Elliot Scheiner was good, but never would have thought it was as good as Mark Levinson. Granted, I have never heard a Levinson sound system (unless there's one in our RX300) but the hype around it sounds as if it is unbeatable. Glad to see the TL take more props.

 

Yeah the ELS system is absolutely amazing. I've seen that article before, but rereading it, I was a little surprised to see that the HK system in the Benz stacked up against the TL better than the ML system in the Lexus.

 

I love dvd-audio. Unfortunately the TL is the only one with this option. So..... we are comparing apples to oranges. With regular CD's compared to regular CD's the sound systems are probably close to equal. But there is no comparing DVD audio to regular CD's. That being said, the 2004 Acura TL sound system can't be beat.

 

I've never been fond of Bose to begin with. Overpriced brandname system with performance close to aftermarket systems that cost way less. Even my aftermarket Pioneer system in my previous car had a crisper sound quality at 1/3 the price. I've had chances to compare the sound quality of Bose from my friends' Mercedes and Nissan. I didn't really see what the hype was about them. Even my friend wished he saved the money from the dealer and installed aftermarket systems after listening to mine.

Of course there are certain conditions that can affect sound quality. If the interior design set the speakers in poor locations, that would inhibit any great stereo system from sounding its best.

Overall, I'm very happy with what Acura chose for their electronics in the TL and finally shunned from the ever common Bose.

 

So far I would say that the ELS system in my TL is overrated.

The only thing I think the TL sound system needs is a little more bass power ie. a bigger sub, but then again I am 16 so I like big subs!! But i think the system is very good for most people and sounds very clear!!
