Angry Dumb Cop Caught The Wrong Guy!!

So here is what happen this morning on my way to work. I take the Long Island Expressway to work in Long Island, NY. There are 4 lanes: 1 HOV lane and 3 regular lane. I was on the left lane doing 55- 60mph. Then I saw a tan 99-01 TL speeding on the HOV lane, went pass me and a few cars and then jump onto the regular lane. Next thing I know a cop with his flashing lights was catching up on the HOV lane and then get behind me and pull me over. I knew he got the wrong guy. I was driving my beater car, which is a 94 Honda Accord coupe, also tan in color. After he got my info, this is what happened:

Cop: Where are you going? Why are you in a hurry? Why did you switch out of the HOV lane.

Me: Officer, you got the wrong guy. It was another car that speed pass me and when into traffic.

Cop: (Rolling his eyes): Are you kidding me?

Me: Officer, I am not kidding you. It was an Acura that went pass me and you got the wrong guy.

Cop: Are you kidding me?

Me: No I am not kidding.

Cop: Was the car tan color?

Me: Yes, actually the color is car Heather mist and make of the car is an 99-01 Acura TL. It is a four door sedan.

Cop: How do you know the car so well?

Me: I have a very good eye, but I wasn't able to catch the license plate for you since he was speeding so fast. But I know he has tan leather interior if that helps.

Cop: You know, I think you are right. Sorry for taking your time.

So the cop is an idiot not knowing the difference between an accord and a TL. Also not knowing a 4 door compare to a coupe.

And the asshole that was in the TL, you should be ashame of yourself driving an Acura so recklessly.

Andrew, I was going to tell him about that, but we were on the shoulder in the middle of rush hour.

I think you got a good cop. Most don't believe anything you say.
As I was reading it, I thought for sure, he was going to write you up for something.

Wow... i figured he was just going to write you a ticket as well and just call you a liar...

Funny thing is that we are all saying, wow he was nice and took it well... Its like we all expected the cop to give a ticket to the wrong person, and then when he does the correct thing of NOT giving our buddy a ticket, we are all calling him generous.....

Something is wrong, when the cop doesn't give a ticket to the wrong person and we say he was generous....

i wonder what would have happened if he gave you a ticket for all that...and of course you had to go to court. i wonder how that would play out.

and i wonder i can ever use that scenario as an excuse. wasnt me officer you got the wrong car.

Sounds like a smart cop to me. Everybody makes mistakes, the question is, are you smart enough to admit it when you do? In this case, he was.

Cops get enough shit as it is, I find it annoying when somebody gives them shit when it should be praise.
