Driver Detection

The weirdest thing happened today, when I unlocked the car and got in I saw that the seats and mirror were moving. I was like wtf weird. THen on the MID screen it said Driver 1 detected. I looked it up on google and read that acura has some kind of driver detection thing. This has NEVER happened before, I've owned the car almost 2 years now. Anyone experienced this? I think it might be linked to which key you have, but like I said, its never happened before and I've been using this Key for the whole two years I've owned the car. 05 TL btw

Sorry long read for the pretty pointless post, just thought I'd share

yeah u just linked the key fob with the car. if you look at the back of ur remote it will give u directions on how to link the car. remote 1 will adjust to memory 1 and remote 2 will adjust to memory 2.

if its never happened before..u may have just accidentally linked the remote with your car..

I hope OP Walsh is kidding- each use of the remote to unlock the door will result in a message in the MID indicating that either Driver 1 or Driver 2 was detected, depending on which remote was used. Each remote retains its individual setting for the mirror, radio preset, climate control and seat positions.

If OP is using the key rather than the remote to open the door, I don't know if the Driver message appears, though.

EDIT: Oh, and per playa's post, I assumed that OP Walsh's remotes were linked. If not, that might be the reason for the "new" message.
Lesson:

It happens ALL the time.
Someone may have [or you may have] re-adjusted the side mirrors.. and got in before the message went away for once.

LOL! Well I did just take it to the dealer for warranty work maybe they linked it for me? No one else drives my car so I have driver 1 seats and mirror set on "aggressive mode" and driver 2 seats set on "relax/laid back" mode. I toggle between the two all the time and never once did it automatically adjust. I kind of dont like it actually, I'll probably unlink it. lol thanks guys

all I can say is read the manual, theres tons of info in there. I bet you didn't know that your visors slide to cover the windows... READ IT, and in case you don't have it, theres a copy of it in the 3G garage.

The manual can also be accessed through Acura's OwnerLink site if you register.

Get out of town! The key fob does what???

P.S. And it also triggers your radio presets to be restored, so each driver has his/her radio stations, driver seat/side mirror positions and HVAC options...

Here is what happened (I think), you said, no one ever drives your car so your settings are never changed...right? Well whoever drove your vehicle at the dealership must have adjusted your seat or something. When this happens and as soon as you unlock your door with your "Driver 1" remote, then the seat will adjust back to its normal settings, thats the whole purpose of the "Driver 1" and Driver 2" settings, for a husband and wife settings for example.

If only it did the rearview mirror too. I get so annoyed after the girlfriend drives it and I go to look in the mirror and it's pointing at the rear seat. Kind of petty I know but it would still be nice.

Is that really related to the key, or does it just remember that if you left either one on when you turned the car off? (That's a serious question on my part. Remote #2 has never been used since I got my TL in August 2004.)

It's actually in the memory depending on which remote. I had added a system and had the bass and sub turned down to balance the system. I used the #2 key for the first time a year later and when I turned the radio on it took me a second to figure out why it sounded like crap with the bass drowning out the highs.

Wow, I never knew that. Still learn something new even after 4 years and 50,000 miles (I just hit 50,000 miles this morning right as I passed the Pentagon on my way to the office).

I knew it did the seats and mirrors just now found out it also did the temperature and radio presets cuz of tekno. Haha. I have an aftermarket alarm so I lost all these functions for over a year now but I'm the only one who drives the car so not a big loss. Would like to know if there is anyway to link my aftermarket key fob to work with the MID?
