The plastic piece that goes over your keyhole may be broke?
I had one that did the same thing & it was because I took it
off & broke one end of it. Not sure what you did but you can
always order another one.

Mine is completely missing on the driver side rear door. I spoke with my local dealer and they wanted 110 bucks to install a measly $10 part. I said no thanks. I can live without it until I have the time to do it myself.

But it is well known that that is a real common problem.

So many people have this problem, there is a TSB for it:

TSB 07-043: Outer Door Handle Extension Falls Off

Rear item 22/33: http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...s=&view=normal

Front item 28/32: http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...s=&view=normal

After fees, shipping, etc, it'll costs as much or more than just getting it fromthe dealer. 20 miles is nothing. Call the parts desk and order, then you just need to worry about picking it up.

Go here and choose your model

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...arch=&ListAll=

Then choose the system:

FRONT DOOR LOCKS-OUTER HANDLE and

REAR DOOR LOCKS-OUTER HANDLE

Part numbers should be the same for all years though.

With the TSB the dealer should do this for free, if you car is under warranty. I did the shaved door handle and it cover was metal. Heavy and very sturdy. The covers just snap in and they have a small release tab. Pull your door handle and you can see it in there. Not sure why they are falling off. I've had no issues.....

For warrenty TSB you've got to let the dealer do it.

To replace the base and the cover you have to remove the interior door panel.
