Donor car questions

I have a 97 civic and I'm looking to do a j32a2 swap next year.

One of my buddies recently got his dealer license and I was wondering what kind of tech I would be able to transplant into my civic? Gauge cluster, speakers, seats etc.

I'm considering purchasing two cars with him, an auto 01-03 CLS type S for engine and a base 04-08 TL for transmission so I can use AEM.

I'm just wondering if this is the most effective route to take.

Thanks!

Don't think the 04-08 have the same transmissions. Pretty sure they changed for 07-08. Possible that the 04-06 may be the same or very similar to the 01-03 CL?

Haha, my bad, it is the 04-06 I believe.

I ask because I saw a guy a few months ago selling his j32a2 swap civic and it had the 03-cls cluster and Navi installed

I have an 05 Trans you can have for $100. Needs a rebuild but it would get you started!

why not just find a manual CL-S? then you have everything you need with one purchase. swapping the cluster in should pretty much be as simple as matching up the wires from the civic harness to the CL pigtails, and figuring a way to mount it.

+1 that would be the easiest way to go and I believe slightly more compatable than the newer car. You can MAKE it work either way tho, its just how many extra little steps and conversions you will need to do. Good luck and show us some pics!!!

If I didn't want to upgrade to AEM I would consider just getting a 6MT CLS, but unfortunately it doesn't work, and they're much harder to find. The AEM V2 uses the auto sensors along with whatever transmission you run.

But as for the tech, people say you can make anything work, the question for you guys however is how much work? Any of you have links or information on the how tos? Like with the gauge cluster etc?
