I just ordered my new 2004 TL two nights ago. Unfortunately, there were not many available colors coming in. I chose Anthracite since it looked nice in the showroom and appeared to look grey. Now, I'm concerned that the car may end up looking like some slight shade of purple in the daylight. Do I have anything to worry about?

Nighthawk Black Pearl... can sometimes look purple... because of the pearl flakes in the paint.

Anthracite is a pure metallic, no pearlescents (sp?)

No, the Anthracite does not look purple or even have any purple hue to it. So, soopa is all over it!!

 

I was somewhat worried about that too because on Acura's website, Anthracite does look like it's almost light purple or has some hint of purple in it. I even decided against getting the TL due to this. There was no color that I liked on the car, I've had a black, silver, blue and white car already. Then one day I saw an Anthracite TL parked in IHOP and noticed what a nice color it was and that it looked NOTHING like purple. So, NO, you have nothing to worry about, the color looks great!

 

No I do not think it looks like purple, however I do think Too many people have this color. That is all I see in the TL's in my area.

Your car's exterior won't look purple, but its interior may look orange. Don't ask why. Just accept it as the truth.

You don't have to worry it's a great looking car. But in certain light and surroundings, it can take on a purple hue...not a bad one don't worry but see if you notice it. Sometimes when the sky is red...

 

Someone pointed out to me that it looked a little bit green and I told her she was nuts.
Then I was washing it one day and in the sun I'll be damned if it doesn't lhave a hint of green in it.

 

Maybe under a purple light... I don't see any purple hues in my anthracite, or green for that matter.

 

I've had my Anthracite TL for two months now, and I've never seen any purple hue. I most often see blue during certain times of the day, and even a slight degree of green, but never purple.

 

You must have seen purple rain too many times - Had my car a few months and it looks blue under some conditions and grey under others - never green.

I think anthracit is the best color - and you can't even count white or balck TLs, as these are not even considered colors - just hues.

Anthracite will never look purple unless it was painted with a pear flake.

I've had mine for 3 months and have never seen green, purple or any other hue except greys. But then again I'm drug tested. Ha Ha

04TL anthracite/5at/Aspec wheels/wing -- by far the nicest combo out there, ground effects next.

 

I think the Antracite is a hot color/hue. I had the Leguna 2000 TL which was really a grey but it had a shade of green if you caught it on the 3rd thursday of the month and it was sunny. It was lighter than the Anth, but it's a nice color.

IMHO, the 2003 Type-S was just HOT TSSSS HOT in Anthracite. And it was just 100% Classy in the Firepepper red, wow that was a luxourious lookin car/color.

The anthracite is just pencil lead colored and it's awesome. I'd have thought about it but I was dead set on blue and got the ABP. The Accord looks hot in Anth too.

 

I bought the Anthracite, have had it for three weeks, and I have never seen any purple in it. It has always looked like light-charcoal metallic to me. So, don't worry about purple. Unless, of course, you have overindulged in an alcholic beverage. In that case, it might look like any color, or even change from minute to minute.

 

But Anthracite is a great color. Another of my colleagues just bought one, saw ANOTHER anthracite in the physician parking lot. Jealous bastards, they're copying me! Anyway, I can verify that it only looks purple to YOU, CMM1970.

 

Anthracite is an awesome color! It's appearance does vary, depending upon the lighting, but
I've never thought it looked purple, though sometimes it has a blue-ish cast.
