Question Do you use your fogs?

Do you use your foglights? And if you do... do you use them for driving in the fog?

It's just that I've never used Fog lights on any of my cars... except on my BMW, where I had french (yellow) fogs, which i used by themselves at dusk (in combo with the angel eyes). Just wondering. I've turned mine on once, by accident and thought that they spoiled the whole look of regular HID lights, by mixing this weird off-white color in the color scheme

i prefer not to use my fogs since it takes away from the HID look, but i do use them when needed. like when i'm in the texas hillcountry at night they help light up the sides of the roads to watch for something that might dart out like a deer or something...

Yep, I use them when it's foggy, which has been twice in a year of ownership. They really are of marginal value.

I do not consider them to be real fogs as they are not....

But, I have them on all the time the headlights are on... they do light up the edges more and also put a bit more light in front of you...

Sure I use them when in fog but more often then not on narrow mountain roads or tight hillside streets.
The wider lower beam helps me see the edge of these roads and such.

Yep. At night, virtually always. Where I live, there are just too many 4-legged critters (especially deer), so I want to put down as much light as possible to keep from hitting them.

I have used them during a few foggy days, I'm really considering getting a set that I will install on the lower grill section and see if I can splice into the OEMS and have them 4 go on at once...

Don't use them as it's rarely foggy in my neck of the woods. I get enough flashes from "older" people in the neighborhood with my HIDs as it is.

Is there a bulb that you can use in your fogs that would closer match the HID's that we have? Also, how hard is it to change them out? I like the fogs because there's obviously more light, but would like it to match the blue tint of the HID's, or at least come closer to it

I have been using them more - they really light up edge of road nice and I am able to see some of the larger potholes prior to landing in them - at least I get enough warning to spew a large amount of obsenities before I bottom out and twist another rim.

Did I miss something? I thought you either had your lights and fogs on, or just fogs on... i didnt think there was any way to put on just main lights and no fogs... whats going on here? you can either turn the light control forward once (day, fog lights) or twice (all on) right?

Fogs, never use them.

On a side note, some idiot flashed me the other week...was going over a speed hump...guess they didn't like the HID's getting aimed directly at them...and they weren't old like neuronbob's neighbors, either...some people need to realize we are 5 years into the 21st century...hopefully they'll join us soon.

there are 2 things you can turn.
I think the headlights are the inner-most thing to turn and then the fogs can turn on next to that. Just can't have High-beams on AND fog lights at same time. I do not think you can have fogs on by themselves.

I bearly use them. Except for foggy situations. I also use them on dark country roads. The angle of the light lets u spot deer easier. It also helps when there is an on-coming car when you can't use the high beams.

Ever since I passed my teenage years, I don't consider myself needing the added coolness of driving with fog lights on. I think that's all people really turn them on for, honestly. I think people think it makes them look cooler or something???

Since my car is new, I will do what I've done on past cars. I plan to turn mine yellow, and I will only use them a couple times a year to help people see me in the fog.

I bought a set of the PIAA Yellow Plasma Ion bulbs and put them in my fogs. They are really great and light up the sides of the road along with directly in front of the car. I only use my fogs in the morning when I drive to work before the sun goes up. Other than that, I don't even bother.

Has anyone used the fog lights on the 3rd Gen TL in the fog at night? Did fog lights improve your vision in the nighttime fog?

They are way to high and white to be effective as "fog" lights. I do use them as "driving" lights occasionally on particularly dark and desolate roads. They help light up the edges of the road when there is no white line there.

I may try and get the yellow bulbs and see how that works in true foggy conditions.

Your 3rd Gen TL has fog lights. The fog lights are the inner lights when you look at the headlights. On the switch for your headlights, there is another twist collar on that lever. That controls the fog lights only when your headlights are on and you are on low beam.

Canadian models, such as Mio's, do not have fog lights; they have DRL's which are daytime running lights mandated in Canada.
