Do NOT purchase LED/bulbs from Autolumination
I bought one of their 194 Super Nova LEDS and when I got it, the wire was a bit loose. Didn't think too much of it since the light still worked. After a couple of weeks, I noticed that the light was going in an out (I installed them over the license plate per Kennedy's thread).
I looked at the LED and saw that the wire was completely loose and now was not working at all. I contaced autolumination and was told they don't warranty any bulbs/LEDs and that I must have done something to the LED during installation. They were very rude in the email and not willing to even budge. I would have taken a new bulb at a reduced price or something. They said no.
So unlike the other places, ie, superbrightlights and the like, autolumination does not warranty any bulbs/LEDS after you install them. Or after a burn out. Just an FYI.

Had a similar experience, that's why I always advocated Brian at Tec-Toyz. He had a lifetime warranty and was really good to deal with. But for the last 1 year he has been completely unreliable and has totally dissed us at acurazine. It is a risk nowadays to put your money down on LEDs. So far I'm lucky.

I also bought mine from superbright leds. I actually bought like 3 extra sets because I heard stories of leds only lasting a couple months... I'm still on my first set with absoultely no flickering

I have lights from superbrightlights for the interior (with no problems), but purchased some leds from auto for the reverse and license.
terrible customer service and an even worse policy on their products. the stuff i purchased from super are still going strong. no problems with them. i'll never buy anything from automlumination again.

I've had the same problem. I bought many LED's for my license plate. Have gone through 5 pairs. Tried some off ebay, some from superbrightleds and now I just ordered my second pair from autoillumination (super nova 194) for the license plate. I just figured since I had 2 JL Audio W6v2 12's with a JL Audio 500/1 mono sub amp, that the constant banging of the bass kept breaking the bulbs. Everywhere else in the car I never had a problem with the LED's. Only in the license plate.

I have had the exact problem as the OP. I had noticed that one of my LED's was dimmer than the other. The next time I saw the back the other was dimmer. I took them out and found that three of the four wires of the two bulbs were loose. I also noticed that the white casing where the wire touched it had turned brown (looked like from heat). I know have stock bulbs in and they are ugly. Is there any other LED's that would work better (be safer)

Well, I'm not married to them either... I asked autolumination for the ability to test a series of LEDs and keep the ones best for for my application, then return the rest. I received a negative response on that as well, and I posted that in my review thread.
Needless to say, that was disappointing, but the truth of the matter is that they have some of the best and brightest auto leds on the market. I installed all the leds I referenced in my led review thread, and all are still going strong.
Brian at Tec Toyz is reselling superbrightleds.com clusters, which are a terrible application anywhere on the TL ( iwent through 4 before looking elsewhere for an alternative), for a 50% markup. He's now disappeared, and shafted a lot of folks "expecting" a warranty.
Fact of the matter is that these leds are commodities. I experienced a similar "lack of service" issue with v-leds on ebay. Although you'd expect better warranty, they're cheap, and that's just the nature of the beast.
Granted, th OP should have warranted a repalcement, MANY of the things you buy online come with no warranty... to include OEM Acura parts. If it's been open and used, you're liable.
From a technical standpoint, if you're experienceing flicker, make sue the led lead isn't losing contact with the connector leads. Some of these leds require you to slightly bend them a little to make positive contact, and your issue very well may be your installation.
Cold cathode is an option, but just as potentially fault prone. Certainly don't let the one an only bad experience drive everyone away, as thes ethings look great, and most others that followed my lead are still as happy as can be...
If the bulb truly is faulty, file a payapl complaint... It's that easy to deal with.

Autolumination SUCK$
I sure wished I read this thread before buying LED's for my heater switches. I purchased the OEM replacement bulbs and had a hard time twisting them into the contacts, but thought all was well. When I tested them, two did not work. When I tried to remove them the bulb was separated from the base. The problem is that the PCB extends too far out and catches on the contacts. It looks like you could manually grind a bit off the board and install just fine.
The real issue is that the folks at Autolumination are not reasonable and seem to think that each customer is out to get them. Trying to get them to even read an email was a chore...they kept asking me for info I already sent. In the end, they refused to provide a refund and offered a 50% discount on a replacement. I would avoid these guys and take your business elsewhere based on the customer service alone.

FWIW I have some LEDs I bought from them in 2007 and they still work fine. I've gotten some that were hit miss from other sellers, most of the LED plug and play bulbs out are all the same cheap things made in China, I normally just go for the best buy with the amount of LEDs on it I want on eBay.
