Lightbulb DIY a-spec body kit?

I picked up an a-spec body kit through that hot deal from R. Laks...
Its coming THIS saturday!!!!
Can I get some advice from those of you that have installed this kit yourself?
Any tips, tricks, pitfalls?
Can I do it myself? SHOULD I do it myself?
Thanks.

Make sure you drill the right holes in the rear bumper. There are two sets of markings, one for the kit and one for back up sensors.

the front lip can be very touchy, if its not put on just right, there will be a lot of gaps. its gotta be exact for it to fit flush. i had to redo mine three times to get it perfect. but i did do it by myself. you may want to have someone that cares about having it straight too help you out

Replace the adhesive strips (per Peter Ubers) for a more snug fit and to eliminate most of the gaps.

I didn't have a center punch either. You can use a nail to make the indentation. I it's just a guide for you to drill.

Mine is on the way also. Does anyone wanna help me install? I live in Fountain Valley for all the O.C. people here. I'll buy ya dinner...

P.S. Why does the adhesive have to be replaced? And what kind of adhesive do you replace it with?

Thanks for the tip, 05TLTony.
Just a little clarification... Do you mean that the adhesive strips should be removed or replaced with something different per peter ubers?

Thanks again.

New to the board but lurking for a couple months! I also ordered mine 2 days ago.
I live in Orange and plan to do my own install with the help of a kid that works for street scene's and has helped install a few before so I have a little help from an experienced installer. Your welcome to hang out and watch or maybe if time permits we can do both at the same time.
Later
Jeff

The factory strips should be removed and replaced with the wider 3M strips.

I will let you know when my stuff show's up. In the mean time I will see about getting the 3m tape ahead of time. I talked to my helper and he say's they have some sort of cleaner / adhesive primer type stuff that makes the tape stick alot better. I will see if I can score some of it for the install.
Talk to you later

good tip but i think i may as well see how the factory tape holds up & if unsatisfactory, it can be replaced. But do u suggest putting one continuous strip across? and what is the hardest part, the back? overall is it an easy , but time consuming install, or is it a pain in the ass most of the way through?

Update... the fix is still holding up well 1 year later.... I had to remove the front A-spec lip spoiler to install my AEM intake (to get the wheel well liner out) and I can attest to how strongly the 3M tape held the OEM bumper to the lip spoiler. It was very challenging pulling it off. So, if you do it right, yer 'spec kit ain't gunna budge after you improve the 3M tape contacts per my link.

Seems like there's 3 people that live in the so cal area add me and that makes 4. I don't have a-spec or planning to install it any time soon. But I suggest you guys all meet on one day and just install it together. I'll have no problem come down to lend you guys a pair of hands. I'll study the DIY but it looks relatively easy. Weekend probably work the best and starting around 9-10am will allow us to at least be able to get 2 cars done I would think.
I can bring down my service manual if non of you guys have it. let me know.
