Disabling seat position memory?

2004 TL Base 6MT.

I've owned this car since 2020 and the seat memory feature has never worked. Following an intense electrical storm about 2 weeks ago, it suddenly DOES work. Only problem is, saved driver 1 and 2 saved positions are unusable for me and I can't get the system to save MY seat and mirror position. I'm looking to disable the system.

The service manual says that if the battery is disconnected, it will clear saved seat memory positions. FALSE. I disconnected the battery for ~30 minutes. Seat and mirrors immediately went to the saved position as soon as I unlocked it.

Since I can't save a new seat position in memory, I assumed the switch is bad, so I disconnected the switch. No change in behavior.

The service manual says the "Power Seat Control Unit" is under the seat. It is not. Unless it's buried in the cushion, or only here in an automatic, this diagram is wrong. I was hoping to position the seat the way want it, unplug the control unit and be done with, but no such luck so far. My copy of the shop manual is missing the pages referenced below, conveniently.

Any other thoughts on how I can stop the seat and mirrors from taking themselves wildly out of position every time i unlock the car? Spending 2 minutes trying to reposition everything every time I get in the car is getting to be a problem.

Unlink the remote from the memory seat system - see post 3 here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2...ttings-591047/
