Decent price on an '07 Type S?

Lom looking at one that I found online, have gotten pictures from the owner, my concern is that it is in another state. I'm in Texas, and this one is in Florida. Its an 07 WDP Type S with 60,000 miles on it. He's asking 17k for it. Pictures look great, only damage appear to be small paint chips on the front hood / bumper, something I would consider to be typical for a 2007 model car. I'm just curious if I'd be better off just getting a regular TL for twelve to fourteen thousand, instead of spending the extra on the Type S. It is an automatic transmission, black leather. I love the white on black... I'm guessing by the time I get the car transported here, title work, taxes, I'll be in it for close to 19k.

With 60K on it...?

I think that's a pretty decent deal for you... Never hearts to try and negotiate a little too, he's asking 17, counter with 16?

You can save yourself a good amount of cash by buying a one way plane ticket on Southwest or whatever and drive it home. That's what I have done with out of state purchases and have had good luck so far. It's going to be a bit if a risk since you can't actually see the car in person, but so is having it shipped. With shipping the at is pretty much yours. Atleast with flying worst case scenario you can back out and just go back to the airport.
Just get the owner to take high quality digital camera pictures of EVERYTHING and you should be good. Price seems pretty good for the mileage.
If you don't want to do with an out of state transaction, finding automatic Type S's isn't really too big of a deal. Finding the manual ones is what requires flying out if state.

Don't forget to get yourself a carfax report to ensure that it hasn't had like 10 owners and accidents reported. Low owners and accident free is always key.
To answer your question though, yes that sounds like a good deal as long as the car is clean, low owners, and accident free.

Goodluck and let us know what happens.
James

Carfax is clean, this is the original owner, and shipping it will run $600. His asking price was $18,600.

If it checks out, then it certainly is a good deal.

I'd jump on it. Bought mine 4 years ago w/ 60,000 miles for $16,000. Super clean but had salvaged title.

Yeah, a stick would be worth the added risk....but as some of these guys said:
Jump on a plane, check it out, make a deal and drive it home. Good luck !!!

I ended up passing on it... after zooming in on all the pics I saw what appeard to be dirt, but turned out to be rust. Thats the bad thing about cars living on coastal areas... paint chips = rust.

So now the search is back on... 07 - 08 WDP on black Type S.
