Dash light question
I just picked up my new TL yesterday, and I was trying to figure out if there is a way to get the dash lights to function in MAX brightness when the headlights aren't on, yet function in a dimmer mode, when the headlights are on. I believe my wife's new Accord will do this, but I couldn't figure out how to get the TL to do it last night. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

huh? when you have the brightness level set to highest setting the dash lights will be as bright as can be when the headlights are not switched on. when the headlights are switched on the dash lights dim a bit and the Navi goes into night mode. when you press the max button it changes the dash into the full brightness as if the headlights were off and turns the navi into day mode. not sure what you are trying to ask.

For this purpose, do not use the MAX lighting selection.
With the headlights OFF, press the + side and set to the highest level
With the headlights on, use the + or - side to adjust the lighting to your desired level.
Now, with the headlights off you will get maximum lighting, but when you turn the headlights on the dash lighting will adjust to your preset level.
If you use the MAX lighting selection, you will always have maximum lighting with the headlights on or off. This is handy if you have to turn on your lights during the daytime when it is raining or foggy but there is still enough outside light so that you need the MAX setting to see the instruments.

Thanks, guys that makes total sense. The sales guy who showed it to me just told me that "Max" was a shortcut to get it to the brightest level. Just goes to show you they don't know everything... Thanks!
