Question Break in period?

What is the break in period. I heard that it's 500 miles.
Is this true or must I wait longer.

Look in the owners manual for the recommended break in.

Im planning a road trip this weekend (approx 600 mile trip one way), and I only have 250 miles on my TL... Does that mean, not to drive it at long lengths of time or don't jump on the gas real heavy? Plzzzzz I need to know before i try taking this car on a long road trip. Thanks in advance!

I think the break in period, you should drive in local and dont keep a constant RPM for long. You should try to vary the RMP up to 4000 so the electronic fuel injector can collect a variation sets of data to adjust properly. Also the variation in RMP helps the oil get to every single conner of the engine.

Hope that helps

the only thing the manual says a/b that is no quick acceleration. so i tried to keep rpm under 3000 for the first 600. other cars have recommended traveling at different speeds so it's good to mix up local and highway.

break in for breaks was something like 2-300 miles no sudden stops.

I just got mine yesterday, and reviewed the break in procedure in the manual. It's EXACTLY like all three Honda sportbikes I have owned. It is roughly...
For the first 600 miles:
-No full throttle starts (I'm assuming it means don't floor it when you start it)
-No extreme braking
-No hard acceleratoin

There is nothing in there about RPM limits. I won't be taking it near redline until my 600 miles are up, but I'm not going to set up really low artificial limits of RPM's, just because it's new.
