Dash and control lighting

Have any of you found the instrument lighting to be too bright for night driving ?

The controls are the opposite, too dark and out of balance to the extremely bright dash lights. I need to darken the dash lights and brighten the control lights.

Now to have an old fashioned POT to adjust the lights where ya like em may be just what is needed. Okay in this case I need 2 POTS.

So why don't you turn the dash lights down via the controls to the left of the steering column?

What triggle is saying is that if you turn down the dash lights to a comfortable level that makes the lights on the controls too dim to be able to see.

Ah, gotcha, I can see how that'd be a problem...

This is when I really like having the voice-control option on the Navi. I've noticed the same thing from time to time and being able to use the voice controls eliminates the need to worry about not being able to see the buttons.

I believe on all my other cars (Ford,Chevy) when you dimmed the dash lights the other lights dimmed too.

Okay I'll try to clarify what I mean.

The dash lights are too bright even at the full dim setting.
The control surface lighting is too dim even at full bright setting.

The illumination is not balanced. I have to turn up the dash lights to see the controls but then need sunglasses to avoid blindness.

i understand what your saying...what im saying is...im sure that there is a way you can replace the bulbs in the controls because they all come from a main power source with less bulbs then there are buttons...so what im saying is you can replace the bulbs with higher or lower wattage bulbs whichever will give you a brighter light...or you can lower the wattage on ur dash...whichever...theres always a way :-)

I know exactly what you mean! For normal city driving this is not a big issue, but for country driving, the inside of the car is just to bright! I end up turning the navi screen off, and turning the brightness all the way down. I guess that's all you can do.

Agree...

I have to agree with you.

I've thought the same thing. Too bad there is isn't some way to adjust the gauge cluster seperate of the rest of the dash to get a better balance. Then control them all with the regular dimmer.

Finally !!! I thought I was the ONLY one who believed this. I noticed this problem the FIRST night I drove my car home !! C'mon ACURA,..it's called MODULATION !! Either give us TWO independent controls, or make the lights BALANCED !!!!!!!!

dash vs control lights

My TL turned 2 years old this week,..just reachin 50K miles too! Overall good experiences,..a few rattles, etc.. common on this board.
Tires of coarse suck,..swapped out last year with Michelin Pilot sports A/S,..bit noisy at first but handle WAY better.
----------------
Does anyone have a known fix for the dash light mystery ?
Cluster lights (spedo / tach) too bright at night,...but control buttons surrounding NAV screen are TOO DARK (poorly balanced).
any advice would be appreciated!

Last nite was the first nite I have driven my TL at night and I was just going to search for the same thing .. to dim the cd/radio display so its no too bright you can't see the rest of the controls etc .. to me the offending ones are just the Radio / AC temp blue bands. I think the problem is the white lites used on the controls should have been red to show better.

The other thing up here in CanaDUH the Speedo is in KM/Hr but the MPH letters are blue and so faint I think when I go to the US I won't be able to see it well enough to get a relative idea if I am close to the speed limit or not.
