Thumbs up Custom Diffusers Interested?

Guys,

Got an ok from astro to ask for interest in customized diffusers for our 2004-2008 TL headlights.

Here's what the OEM diffuser looks like:

They'll be custom diffusers that replace your OEM amber plastic diffusers. The actual pieces will not be 100% like your OEM diffusers with bracket, but they'll have the same shape and curves like your OEM diffusers without the screw in brackets.
Here's what I am talking about regarding the screw in bracket.

They come in clear, tinted gray and tinted bronze colors. I'll try to take pictures of the samples I'll be getting soon. There might be more colors available later.

The front facing the outside will have crystal shiny clear finish, the back facing the inside housing will have frosted finish where you will not be able to see through them. The finish will be a smooth finish unlike the OEM diffuser with different pattern for reflecting purposes. The frosted finish on the back side will replace the reflection function.

These diffusers will help many more people with LED front signals without lossing the so much output in the day time. The diffusers will help produce more lighting as a whole piece. People with normal halogen bulbs will have the clear look with the same output just like factory. It's a WIN WIN situation for both LED and halogen users.

The install is very simple, just clip the pieces to the both ends of black housing piece that attach to the diffusers. For a more secure install, you can use a thin piece of 3M tape to attach middle section.

I'll take pictures of the actual piece what the custom diffusers would look like later without the screw in bracket and what not.

So now the question is, how many of you would be interested in this mod??

I know I would.

This was brought up a couple of times before. The first time garnered lots of positive responses, but nothing ever came of it. The second time (rather recently) wasn't great at all.

I, for one, am still very interested in clear/smoked diffusers, depending on what they look like/how they're done.

chill_dog,
I totally understand that what you're trying to say, but for myself I won't post something unless I feel they're doable.

so let's start off a list shall we?

^I was trying to say that recently it wasn't something that a lot of people were interested in as opposed to a couple of years ago. Sorry if it seemed otherwise.

I think this is a pretty cool idea. Never done before. Definitely would be one of a kind once produced.

Can't wait to see the others. I hope this "tinted grey" looks like it's smoked.

I just need to see a number of interested members before anything can happen.
I'll ensure you guys the diffusers will look very nice. I am picky that way.

Here are some sample pictures of what the diffuser shape would look like...

Front:

The screw bracket will not be there.

Back:

The end clips will not be there.

Here's the front end that will be made like the OEM one, which will fit into the 2 slots of the black plastic holder:

I'll need at least 20 people interested before production.
also I am waiting for samples to arrive so I can take some pictures.

I am also waiting for one sample which I thought was amazing!! clear with a light tint of light blue.

Also if I have 20 people interested, production will take about 5 weeks to produce.
But it doesn't look like there's enough interest.....??

its kind of hard to gather interest since there are no Product pictures, and what is the price?

yes because it's VERY expensive to even begin production for the custom diffusers.
i can't give out prices as well since astro only let me gather interest from people here first. but prices will not draw people away for sure.

rockyfeller,
thanks for the pictures, the 2nd gen TL diffusers are so much more easier to make than the 3rd gen diffusers. our diffusers aren't flat and the one I am trying to create will have a frosty finish inside and clear finish on the outside.

It would look sick if it was smoked like our sidemarkers and you should also consider making replacement reflectors for our sideview mirrors, I'm sure you'll get people that are interested in that as well.

hehe..thanks.
but it's ok. he's helping people to clear their headlights, which mean the owner of the headlights probably doesn't wanna reopen their headlights for this mods.

i'm sure people can see my thread here.

Right, but you might be able to work out a deal with JnC to install them as he clears the headlights.

ok...
finally got a chance to take some photos of the samples I've received last week.

clear & light blue finish:

front side:

back side:

only few more on the list before actual group buy production starts.
the tinted one will have the same finish.

i want to narrow it down to the colors most people want.

clear - light blue - gray tinted - bronze tinted

which colors are the ones most people interested?

I'm leaning towards clear, but maybe gray tinted, depending on how dark it is.
