Complete idiot in a 300C Hemi

This one just about ended in a fight in the middle of the street. I was on the way home from work and at every redlight this guy in a 300c Hemi was flooring it just to have to stop again for the next light.

I wasn't trying to catch him or race him but I ended up near him. I was ignoring him but he completely pissed me off because I went to go around a car in front of me and as soon as I gave it some gas he floored it and I nearly changed lanes into him. I got pissed and floored it, mostly just to catch him to kick his ass. Typical gangster with the lean, head sideways, down low in his seat and leaned all the way back. I wanted to punch him so bad. So I floor it. He must have let off because I was catching him so hard so I figured I'll do a flyby and then kick his ass. So I go by and he's in my rearview but not falling back anymore so he's on it. No traffic and it was a mile long deserted section of the highway before the next light. I figured I'll stay in it for as long as I can stay ahead and then hit the brakes to piss him off. Well I stayed in it a little longer than I had planned because he couldn't quite reel me in. The light up ahead went red so I got on the brakes pretty hard. It wasn't a super hard stop but if I weren't on the NT05s with the Rotoras it might have been interesting. He goes flying past me in full ABS. I'm starting to wonder if he was going to stop in time. I hit my brakes harder so that I could stop way back from the intersection and roll up to the light slowly just in case he hit someone it wouldn't look like I was involved. I watch as he struggles for control and then a bunch of smoke from the front brakes and it looked like he lost them completely. Luckily no one was coming. Now I'm even more upset so I'm waiting for the light to turn green so I can run him down for a little confrontation. I watch as he gets to the next light and swerves into the bike lane and runs another red. At that point I backed out, no telling what he was on and he obvioiusly didn't care who he endangered.

All in all, the Hemi was pulling on me but never caught me till he went past nearly out of control on the brakes. He got outrun by a stock 5at TL and massively out braked. I'm sure he considered it a kill since he did end up ahead of me albeit going through a red light with smoking brakes. I remember now why I don't race certain types of people that don't have the common sense to know their limits.

What is it with 300's and Chargers with Hemis? I saw this guy this morning in a Hemi Charger all decked out with chrome vent visors and hemi emblems all over the car and like 22's. He was all tatted out and about 300lbs. I dunno, maybe a weekend furlough from the state penitentiary.

Man he would have been shittin him self if you were in your GN bro! Lol

Hey bro ill be doing some engine and fuel system work with a 200shot over the next year which should have me between 620-630whp by may 2011... how do you think my V being almost 4k lbs would do against your GN or one equally powered? Sorry for the bench racer question but I've always known GNs to be a force not to be f-ed with... lol

I'm down to 3,000lbs now and I have a ton of money into suspension to put it down. But on street tire it would probably be a driver's race if we went from a stop.

It's hard to say based on my sig. I was around 500whp (a guess) and 3,400lbs when I ran the 10.60 and it's never been run down the track in it's current form.

On drag radials, 600whp is all you're going to be able to put down to the ground at any legal speeds. I still have to ease into it on the freeway if I don't want to spin.

Good luck with the V, it's one of my all time favorite cars. I have a good friend with one of the non supercharged early Vs.

I've been to court over that before which was not fun. I actually got jumped by two huge guys that were mouthing off to my GF but I got charged since I had the broken hands. I swore I would never get out of my car again unless I was forced to but I was just in a bad mood that day. I'm soooo glad he ran the light. For all I know he could've shot me.

You should've stopped by! It's a pretty ugly town but there's a lot to do here.

LOL. It was close enough that I bet a 6mt TL-S could take it.

From what I have read, seems like 6MT cars are pretty quick compared to 5AT cars. Never seen it firsthand but seems like the case as the 5AT falls flat after 3rd gear.

Only time I ran my car, was against another 04-06 5AT and a Ford Fusion V6. I only did it because the ass in the Fusion cut me off and was messing with the other TL. Somehow I outran both off them pretty good from a 3 lane stop light to about 90mph. Had to stick up for the fellow TL owner as the Fusion tried to bully both of us.

Is yours a TL-S?

I've never run a manual transmission car and I rarely ever race anyone. I did run an '07-'08 base 5at once. Pretty much dead even but I manually shifted the 3-4 shift. I held it a little longer than the ECU normally does and when his shifted to 4th, I pulled a carlength while still in 3rd. It's amazing what that extra 500rpm does.

No just a TL, I was manually shifting too. Like you said, just a few more RPM's on this car and it goes a bit faster than letting the computer shift for you at a lower RPM.

It was a rental car and the guy was driving like a complete ass. He was cutting me and the other TL off hard weaving lanes. I didnt want any part of it but had to see what the TL could do against it from a 3 lane stop light. TL luckily FTW or else I was going to back to riding a 10 speed to work.

Thanks IHC. I enjoyed the read. The deceleration contest was the part I enjoyed reading the most. I think that I would had been laughing my ass off so hard at that point if it was me.... just to see his ass sliding into the intersection

It was pretty funny. After modding the car slowly one mod at a time you tend to forget just how much performance you've added. I think you can relate lol. I was thinking about it today and not only did I outbrake him when he was in full ABS, I hit the brakes even harder when I realized he may not make it and still not a single pulse from my ABS. We're talking over a 50' difference in stopping distance *if* his brakes didn't go away.

I do feel ashamed for getting so mad though. I should not be doing that at my age. It's one thing if he wanted to race and properly started it but the part that made me mad was he saw my blinker, saw me speed up and purposely floored it not caring if I hit him. I need to start taking a xanax before I go for a drive.

Speaking of driving, you should make the drive out to the CA Acurafest '10 meet Oct 9th. Over 200 board members and they're giving an award for longest travel. I've got 3 gallons of Redline racing fluid sitting here that's yours if you make it..... $130 worth of fluid for $400 worth of gas plus a super long trip.... I guess that's not such a good deal.

Lol. I can’t even make it to the local Houston Acurazine meets, just 20 minutes from home.. I am not much of an extravert person.

I do appreciate you extending the invitation …. You kind-hearted guy… well, as long as I don’t cut you off in traffic

Winning a braking contest is great provided that your opponent in beside you and not behind you. Just don’t get angry and brake-check anyone.

On a serious note. Regarding chilling. I have had my fair share of encounters too. What I have learned is that there are too many truly crazy people on the road. It is best to not “test” them. That old saying really applies to driving too, “Don’t argue with an idiot because he will drag you down to his level and bet you with his experience.” . It is best to not “test” them. A wise man learns when it is best to swallow his pride.

What a story...sounds like both of you need to relax a little bit on the road! Like Inaccurate said there are some truely crazy people on the road these days, who knows that they're capable of.

I'm not either. Last year I pretty much walked around by myself looking at cars. I knew some of the Fresno guys so that helped a little but mostly I was just wandering around solo.

I've gotten really mellow, it just slips out once in a while. It was really the combo of the guy cutting me off on purpose while having the thug look. There's something about that, that really gets under my skin. Either one of those separately would not have made me mad. I need to pretend the GF is in the car with me at all times. If I even make eye contact with someone I get beat lol.

That was priceless.

And a thumbs up to the OP for not escalating the situation.

You know, if you put more than $5 in the tank at a time it's much quicker. I could see it now, Inaccurate "filling up" 150 times from Texas to CA lol.

“Gasoline? I need no stinking gasoline.”

Can’t have anything to interfere with the Fun Factor.

If street racing was like Nascar, I would surely loss from too many pit stops.

True.. you never know the other driver's capacity. Glad you're okay and nobody was hurt in the aftermath. I think I've cooled off a lot but I do sometimes get the tendency to play the parent and teach other driver's a lesson.. fortunately I typically cool off before anything gets out of hand. I give myself the mindset / goal that it doesn't matter if I get to work / home 5-10 minutes later.. just get there safely. I put on some good music and keep myself aware of the dickheads around.

Yesterday some guy in a cutlass was doing 70 in a 45. He came up real quick.. slammed his brakes and tailgated the car in front of him until he could pass, doing the same to the next car. I made sure I was last in line so he'd quickly get past me. Of course it's some shithead gangsta with an I don't give a fuck attitude. Sure enough some guy in a big F250 boxed him in.. out muscled and surely by looking at that truck.. outgunned.
