CNet Review of 06 TL - disappointing...

Check out the review of the BMW 550 (same site).
He gushes about the truck release on the key fob and complains about the 6-disk changer being in the trunk.
Did he not see the TL fob and notice the IN-DASH changer???? Advantage - Acura!!
I would agree a white car never highlights the lines of any car but I think this guy (Mark) was in a TSX and not the TL.

It wasn't that scathing at all. They said they were somewhat disappointed in the performance. They gave it a 6, which means that it was good for most uses, but not inspiring. Safety and Comfort each got a score of 8, which means excellent. This publication hardly ever gives out a 10 and 9's are rare.

Since when does CNET review cars? I barely tolerate their electronics/computer reviews. I place little credence in ithis. Besides, to each, his own.
With that said, having read the review, it's actually not that bad. The pluses were right on: "The good: The 2006 Acura TL comes nicely tech equipped, with touch-screen navigation, Bluetooth, satellite radio, DVD-audio surround sound, and voice control for the lot."
The "bad" was also dead on: "The bad: Some of the 2006 Acura TL's features, such as Bluetooth and the audio system, aren't fully realized, and some kind of auxiliary input is noticeably absent." We complain about these very things all the time. He also comments further about how Bluetooth isn't fully implemented in our cars, and he's absolutely right.
They don't like the stereo as much as I do--it's pretty good for what we paid to get it, and they admit that they couldn't set it to its sweet spot--difficult in the short amount of time alotted for a review.
I obviously disagree with their assessment of the looks. "uninspiring"? And of course, all these guys drive non-A-Spec TLs so of couse they say it drives like a Japanese appliance. We A-Spec owners beg to differ.
They recognize the value of the car, and the best example they provide is the XM--a $300-500 option with other cars.
So, overall, it wasn't that bad a review, it was balanced, though the writer obviously likes V8 torque monsters by his comment about performance.

Ha I love one of the user reviews:
hahaha if the TL was only like 25 grand you would be stupid not to buy it
You can find better value and performance elsewhere. I gave it an average rating. If Acura dropped the price by about $7,500 I'd give it an above-average rating.

I have never, in my time owning this Black 04 TL, EVER ran across anyone yet that hasn't said how "Awesome, Sweet, Badass" that car is. Noone I know, friend or foe has any complaints about it.
As a matter of fact, most people if they had the funds would purchase this car. Nice to see reviews are still biased toward the human taste, because let's face it, put yourself in the critics position and realize you'd be bashing the BMW instead of our Acura .
It's a never ending cycle.

I don't need a website that specializes in reviewing electical equipment to tell me what they think of a TL. I've driven them and they are awesome. Plenty of other websites & mags praise the TL.

I keep reading reviews that say that the TL is not that fun to drive... "Doesn't bed to go faster" I believe was the comment in the Cnet story...
I think he just might be crazy...
Is it because the test car was an auto?
Anyhow- I'll be back to grinning and having fun driving my TL in the morning/

Giving a review about a product that has no releavence to their business are called opinons not reviews. These computer geeks need to stay out of automotive reviews especially when commenting on design and performance. They're no automotive experts that's for sure and I highly doubt any of them have a design degree or is a professional driver. Sorry but reading that so called review to me is "uninspiring" and a waste of my time.

You say it perfectly. I found the review to be okay, it wasn't bowing to the TL as if it were a god, the TL is a car that does it all. It's not a muscle car, it's not a family sedan, it's not really a luxury car. It offers a little of it all, and there has to be a compromise. I figured posting this link would bring out the "TL is teh best car on teh road" fanboys, and I see it has - a few of them, anyway.
Guys mixed reviews can be found on EVERY car. If you want to see an actual negative review of the Acura TL, visit www.thetruthaboutcars.com.

If you look at the Editor's top tech cars link you'll see they rate the RL quite highly. It is definitely technology focused. Now the RL is a nice car but at a price that's at about 70% higher than the TL, the value for money scale, never mind the sluggish performance of the RL compared to the TL is way off. The editors's perspective is definitely different.
