Question Clear Bra? Questions about installation?

I live in brooklyn, so I need some kind of bumper protection. Right now I have a strip of the 3M bumper guards as you can see from my avatar, but I am really sick of them. They ruin the look of the car, so I started to look into the 3M film. My car is also a lease so I want it to stay nice and clean, besides parallel parking in Brooklyn and the city = destroyed bumpers. Do you guys think that if I get a kit off of ebay that it would be hard to do it yourself? I know how to tint windows and ive down tinted tails, etc. before plus a good friend of mine is a professional tinter so he could help me out. I am just trying to find something that covers the rear bumper as well since that is my main focus as of now. If you guys could help me out with some suggestions or advice I would greatly appreciate it, thanks!

Here is a link of the ebay stuff, its pretty cheap but I am sure it gets the job done:

To be honest with you if your friend is a tinter it's basically the same concept, the two of you can do it together. The key thing to do is to use heat and steam to stretch the material, this should make the installation go easy and you have to have patience.

you might be better off with those big door stoppers that you have on there though, lol. The clearbra might rip when someone hits your bumper...

Just read my thread, its fairly easy. You will need 2 people for the front bumper, it will make things alot easier IMO. Try putting the clear bra on your fenders first, it will give you a good idea on how this stuff goes on, and dont be afraid of getting too close with a hairdryer, you can put it 1/2" away from the film without hurting it. If you have any problems or questions just PM me ill be glad to help you out.

My advice: get an installer to do it. With all the creases and folds in our TL's sheetmetal, it's a nightmare to try on your own. The installer I hired did a great job but called it a "4 out of 4" in terms of installation difficulty.

I used Xpel (made with 3M clear film) on my TL and it looked as good 2 1/2 years later as it did when it went on.

okay i found out everything there is to know about clear bra now and found a installer who is reasonable.
3m makes the film (something about new and old film) and xpel is a company that made patterns that would fit the cars properly.
anyways. i been quoted from 400-1200 to get it installed.
so far i liked tint shop in great neck, i think it was joe. straight foward didnt try to sell me. he quoted me 400 for front and rear bumper and said it would take about 1.5-2 hours to get it done. that sounds reasonable.

ubnpast dude if you were closer, i would have used you.

for those of you who has a clear bra, do you know if they will become yellowish in the future since they are plastic and due to exposure of the sun?

Earlier clear bras from like 3yrs ago......I've heard of the discoloration happening, but over the years the competition have improve there product with new technology. That I haven't heard about discoloration in any of the competition products. Lorenzo Tint only uses 3m products (clearbra & tint) and Lorenzo is a authorize dealer by 3m.
