Been calling around for a couple days to see if any specialized locksmiths could help retrofit my 05 key/remote to my blank 07 switchblade. No luck thus far.

I just took it to McGrath in Westmont. $35 to program and cut it. I was in the same situation as you, couldn't find anything or any place I was comfortable with. After a month I just took it with me on a trip to the dealer and asked what will this cost me to get this done. The guy seemed kinda doubtful and interested at the same time. He came back with it cut and programmed and said $35 dollars.

^ Awesome. I'll give them a call next week and stop in. Just to be sure, you got the blank switchblade where the key part was thicker and wider right? $35 to cut and program?? Shiat! Thats cheap.

Could you please confirm it if its $35 after you went there to get it done?

When I bought my used TL...i only got 1 key...been looking to get a second key..

Would I be able to still use my old key after I got the switchblade?

Thanks!

^ Well, you'll just get two MEM1 or MEM2 keys. Since you don't have the original set, they will def charge you for a spare.

^ Yeah that sounds about right. They will both be the same MEM though. I'll let you know how things go with McGrath.... that dealership is pretty far from me.

Had a question; does anybody have a picture of this switchblade key? Is it similar to the one for the 2009 TSX?

Just a quick update, I programmed the key myself last night. Following the DIY in the Garage and 2 minutes later, it works 100%. Now to get the key done...

Sorry for the delay in responding.

So I bought my blank key from Westmont and then got it milled by FLBusa for $45 I think. (I believe he is no longer doing this). So now the key was the right thickness and length and still blank. The dealer then cut it and programmed it for me for $35.

I don't think the dealership will do everything (mill, cut, and program) for $35. But I guess you can ask.

As for which service guy helped me, his name is Jason N. Glenn

Also sorry for the confusion and getting your hopes up guys. I missed the detail, that your keys were not milled to fit the 05.

^ Yeah any place can duplicate the key, as long as its the same size.

Our problems is getting the blank to fit the 05.

So the search continues.........................

I wish I was still in school. Then I'd have access to the machine shop and I could do this on my own!
