Check this out

I pulled my car out of my garage so I could sweep it Saturday morning. Then I notice some oil drops on the floor. I look underneath the car and I see some oil splattered all around the drain plug for the oil and on the oil pan. I though maybe the drain plug is loose or the crush washer on the drain plug is bad and it’s leaking.

I decided to just leave the car alone and I would bring the car to the dealer first thing Monday morning. I figured I would let them figure out where the oil is coming from.

So I drop the car off in the morning and then get a call around noon. The service manager tells me the car isn’t leaking oil but it’s the steering pump that is leaking and needs to be replaced.

Wow my car only has 4,700 miles on it. So has this happened to anyone else? I figured I got one of the few bad pumps. Oh well $hit happens.

I am not too worried about because the dealer I took it to (Hoehn Acura in Carlsbad) are really good. I know they will take good care of me and my car like they always do.

A few weeks back, someone else on this forum had the same problem...didn't they? Or am I finally losing my mind? It didn't get a whole lot of replies though....

Donte....any way you can ask the dealer if they have seen a lot of this? Just wondering if I need to take mine in for a check-up. Thanks

Well he said that my car was the first 04 in for this type of problem. I have been taking my Acuras to him for the past 4 years so I know he wouldn't bull$hit me.

Donte - did you have an oil change, yet? I get the impression that you have not. I had the same problem after my first oil change and the service manager told me that it is difficult to get the filter clear of the car so that often times the mechanic accidently drops/spills the damn thing creating a big mess.

That is water removed from the atmosphere by the A/C. It is normal...

My wifes car did that and she came running saying her car is leaking something. I go out and it's the same thing :lol2:

If you've been in the rain it will drip for a while from the wheel well - take a look in there, they basically use a carpet-type material as sound-proofing.

Annoying, but normal

was your steering pump making a winning noise at slow sharp turns? This seems to be my case but I am not noticing any fluid leaks.

If you had the defogger on it uses the AC to dry the air it's blowing on the windshield, it's normal.

No winning sound, the guy at the dealer said it was a bad seal on the steering pump. Nothing to get worried about for everyone else.
