Ceramic tint shops in Chicago

Anyone know someone who does good work for a reasonable price in the Chicagoland area? I'm forgoing risking it with metallic (nav problems) so I am looking for ceramic. Everyone I called around here does dyed tints and some carry metallic. Nobody does ceramic around here and some haven't even heard of it!! And these dudes make a living doing this stuff?? Shocking.

Such varying prices; literally $150-$450 is what I've been quoted. But I won't settle till I find ceramic. Anybody recommend a place?

Wow Chicago has no representation on this board......just moved here last week, I see 1000s of TLs on the road everyday, and no one on this board is from around here? Seems like all the enthusisasts arefrom the NY/CA area??

No, there are people here from chicago. I just dont have a clue on where to get ceramic tint. Seems most tinters dont have a clue to what type of tint they are applying.

I got 15% ceramic tint put on my TL in St.Louis. If you're desperate, it might be worth the trip.
BTW, have you tried Alta Mere in Stony Island? 773-768-6600

Hey I'm here to represent! LOL What's your favorite pizza?
a. Giordano's
b. Gino's
c. Uno's
Deep dish or stuffed only of course....

There was just an Acura meet from this board in our area this summer but I couldn't make it at the last minute.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what ceramic tint is, or where you go that's decent in the area to get it done, but I do know from reading this board way too much that you probably want moleskins installed or the TL will scratch your expensive tints!

Its either Lou Malnati's or Art of Pizza for me.

I couldn't find any good tint places either. I finally settled for a dyed tint. I've had them for a year and a half, and they haven't faded or anything yet.

Stuffed from Uno's.

I actually live in Oklahoma City, But I am from the Burbs of Chi Town. I travel quite often and I make it to Chicago on occasion. Its been several years since I have been able to get down town to Uno's, so Giordono's is the next best.

Started from tint, now to pizzas? You guys crack me up! Well I'll look some of those guys up.

Talk about OT here but I can't beat em so I'll join ya. So what's the deal with your famous pizzas?? Hype? I think NOTHING can touch thin NY style "round tha corner" pizza. I tried some gross pizza somewhere around here. It was so damn thick and layered it was more like lasagna. I ordered an X-large, it costed $40 and 10 of us couldn't finish it! Hey call me mainstream but if it's "Chicagostyle" all I've known and liked over the years is Uno's. But hey i don't have to be in Chicago for it. Show me something better Chicago. Guess it's hard to impress a NYorker. At least if I could get some ceramic tint.........

Had some of that supposed "famous" NY pizza in Times Square on my last trip there... wasn't impressed....about the same as Domino's (locals took me there too). People keep saying the water in NY is what makes it good...but if I had to eat that stuff regularly I'd stop eating pizza. Chicago does also offer thin crust pizza for those who don't like it thick... I'm fortunate enough to live in a town here in the burbs where we have about 10 great pizza places to choose from, and one of our favorites is the thin.

Doesn't help you with tint, though, sorry! LOL

I'm in Chicago area too but I don't have tint yet on my car and my wife is trying to stop me from getting it. Let's see if she can...Let me know what you find out!

I like the stuffed spinach pizza from Giordano's (minus the e coli). There is also a good mushroom pizza from Geppetto's in Oak Park.

Giordano's is good, but surely middle class in comparison to our list!

I just slapped on regular metallic tints and I rarely have navigation problems. (And I park in a 12 story parking garage 5 days a week.

Conflicting stories about this metallic tint issue. Some report problems while others don't. I'd rather not risk it and stay away, though that subtle reflective look is eye-catching. Looks like I'm gonna settle for a dyed film. Had it on my ol bimmer with zero fade and zero problems plus it cost me just $160 with lifetime warranty.

Let me know where you get it done and if you're happy with it...I've often thought about doing this but really don't know of a decent place around here to take it... I live in Elmhurst work near O'Hare.

The only problem I have is that I did not go moleskin because I refuse to use that much effort on tints, and I have scratches on the driver window.

By the way, I do occasionally has navigation location problems, but no more than I did before the tint. You can look around here and find that it happens to others as well, with and without tint.

Ceramic Tint is a scam. It has a much shorter lifespan than metallic and the NAV system works fine with either. The only difference you pay 3x as much for Ceramic and have to replace it much sooner.

What do you mean it's a "scam"? Don't you think other's experiences are legit? Some report some "minor" discrepencies, but my critique side will run me up the wall if I am more than 50 ft. offtrack with the Nav. Any other tint experiences around here guys? Or am I going to become the guinea pig with this one too? Aw great!

BTW had Giordano's pizza today FINALLY. Must say it's......ummmm....... OK. Good. Can't say it's bad by any means.

I can't consider it true pizza though. It's more fork and knife style, too thick, hearty.....like a pizza pot pie! More like lasagna or something.. Too much hype fellas;

Bottomline? Not impressed! NOTHING still matches an ORIGINAL NY style thin crust authentic Italian pizza!!!!

I know of a place where you can get the tint done and it wont affect the navi. I got it done by a friend of mine who runs a tint shop in Chicago.

Need more info, and could we possibly get a group discount if we get it all done at the same time

I know I want to do this and my brother wants to do this in his Nissan.

And if we get a couple of guys from this website to go, we can get like maybe 5 to 10 guys getting it done at your frineds shop

Hey Travo, do you mean a metallic tint that won't affect Navi? Where is this place and what brand of tint? Do tell.

After much searching I'm sure even if I find someone with ceramic it will be at an outrageous cost; there's not much competition out here. I knew I should have tinted my car before I left NY.

Shayan, I'm in with you on some kind of group discount, let's find a quality place.
