Car Covers?
Car Covers?
Hello AZ,
I'm pretty much new here as well (a lot of other threads with new people) I've been lurking here ever since I got the car 2 months ago (first car that is actually my own) it's a RRP 2005.
Anyways I wanted to know if anyone can recommend a good car cover for it, I'm not trying to spend upwards of $150 on a cover though. I live in NY and parking the car outside my house is pretty troublesome because:
1: I left it out once and the trunk lip disappeared (lol)
2: Birds seem to love the color of my car so much that they "mark" it all the time.
I'll just drop some pics here as well.

The second pic is where I usually park the car right outside my house. When I bought the car it came with those rims so I dipped them and then painted the calipers while I was there as well.
Thanks!

you're not going to get a real high quality cover for $150. you might find an OEM one on blackmarket used.
covercraft NOAH cover, custom fit. goes for $220 ish.

Car covers tend to cause as much damage as environmental issues. If there is any dirt on the car at all when you put the cover on, you risk scratching the paint. And cheaper covers can mess up a car on a windy day because they move around.
A better solution would be to Opti-Coat the paint (yet to see a bird bomb get through on my own car or any I've applied Opti-Coat to) and/or avoid trees, power lines and overhands (or anywhere birds nest) like the plague.

^^used a car cover for the first 6+ yrs of my TL's life...minimal scratching and marring on the paint if any. it was used daily too. the key is to keep the car as CLEAN as possible when putting it on the car. once the car is dirty just leave it until the next wash.
my car was also parked in a garage at work. at home, used a duster to dust it, then go over it with detail spray. put the cover on for the night.

Wow sounds like a huge pain in the ass...
Thanks for the info so far. Another thing I'm scared of is if I do decide to drop ~100 on a cover I don't want the cover itself to be stolen. -.-
I'm not trying to make and maintain a showcar look but I just want some sort of protection to slow down the crapping process of the paint job. I already have a few ethings on the hood from where the birds bombed.

if you're worried about environmental fall out...wash the car weekly or more, seasonally detail the car and use quality sealants and waxes...remove bird bombs are soon as you see them (keep a bottle of detail spray in your car with a microfiber).
if you get a cover, dont' go cheap. you'll do more harm than good.
