+1. It helps with structural rigidity which = better handling, but it also = less convenience.

Pretty sure the rear seats do NOT fold down. Might be a pass thru in the center arm rest though.

Rear seat does not fold down and yes, there is a center pass through hole behind the center arm rest. Real PITA is you ask me.

If you're looking at stuffing a snowboard/skis through the pass-thru, you could remove the plastic housing/door in the pass-thru to make the opening bigger. That's probably you next best bet.

This is one thing that SUCKS about the TL. Would the car's handling really be noticeably worse if they allowed the seats to fold down? Dumb decision by Acura.

bad bad move by Acura but Lexus is the same with their IS. This is the only thing I really hate about the car.

Wifeys 2006 325i has fold down seats and its night and day in terms of convenience. it effectively turns the car into a mini SUV. If there was thing that would prompt me to rid my TL is the lack of rear folding seats simply because I like the flexibility to configure the car as I please since I like to buy art.

Acura obviously is too stupid to listen because I believe the 09's dont fold down either.

i dont know what anyone here is talking about because my rear seats actually fold down in to the floor to make a nice flat surface all the way to the front seats. you just gotta push really really hard, and i think you have to pull a lever or two. you know, i actually have no clue. my car is in the shop and i miss her very much, i am actually starting to forget what she smells like

Uhmmm, if I recall correctly, your care has folding intake and exhaust valves, not folding rear seats.

if you need to store items in the rear it is very easy to remove the bottom of the rear, there is 1 10mm bolt on the center, closer to the passenger side, then there are 2 clips which you pull and and out comes the bottom (which you can place in the front passenger seat), then just simply place a blanket or beach towel over the rear backrest, voila enough space to carry 4 rims and tires

Haven't you ever bought sometimg longer then the trunk? Wish I only drove my car too but in real life sometimes gotta move stuff around and we don't all own a spare SUV. Plus where are my two snowboards supposed to go ? On the roof where they will surely get ripped off. Point is when we board we take wifeys 325i which has folding rear seats and it's so convenient.

Actually, yes, you would probably be able notice a difference. If you think the car has squeaks and rattles now, take out the bracing.

This was a mod I did on my other car that came without a factory seat brace. It was cracking the roof from twisting from hard launches. Adding the rear seat brace reduced rattles and noticably slowed the cracking. Around corners it let the suspension do the work instead of the body flexing over bumps.

It's actually somewhat important that if you loosen the braces, you tighten them with the car on level ground.

They signifigantly increase the torsional rigidity. Not only that but they're right inbetween the shock towers.

If you are concerned about where to put snowboards. Hidden Hitch has a hitch system that will fit the TL. Then you buy a bike/ski/snowboard rack system from Thule or Yakima.

This route I plan to take with mine so I don't have to worry about the ugly roof rack on the car. Yes I will be taking a risk of the board getting stolen by having it outside the car, but the only time it will on by the rack is when the car is in motion. If your interested the models for each piece are as follows. Hidden Hitch: Model #60814, Thule: Roadway bike rack, Thule: 987xt - Hitch Ski Carrier.
