CAI install question

After watching the CAI install video by Sandieagodrive, is there anyway to remove the OEM intake without having to drill into the plastic? I am saying this just in case the OEM intake has to go back in. I just don’t want the dealership to hassle me about it.

Thanks.

i drilled the rivets out, but it would be no issue to use some small bolts or something to reinstall if i ever needed to

All you gotta do is take some pliers, pull the end facing the front of the car. The "screw" is aluminum so if you pull hard enough, the end of shear off. Then just poke the other end out.

Does that make sense??

Did anyone remove stock without using brutal force?

I think I will be finally getting my AEM, and I will install it this weekend, but I need to preserve stock so it can go back in the car when necessary.

I didn't damage anything when I removed the stock intake.

For that small aluminum thing, you can just use a zip tie or a rivet (I think).

Its a pretty simple DIY. Just find the video from removing the front bumper and installing the CAI. Just remember that the video shows an Injen CAI installation. With the AEM CAI, the vibration mount isn't in the same location as the Injen one.

I didnt take the rivets out neither did I use force to yank it out. To take the whole assembly out in one piece you would have to do a few extra steps.

Follow the video to the point where it says to take out rivets.

1) At this point you'd have to take off the extra shroud pinned to the undercarriage.
2) To take the shrouding off you would have to unbolt the wind deflector mounted a the front of the radiator and AC condenser.
3) Reason you would take off the shrouding is to access the bolt that holds the return air siphon in place.
4) Once the shrouding and the bolt is off you can just take the whole air intake assembly off without any force .

^ Definitely.

What shift knob did you get? If its an aftermarket one, check this out first.

And use blue Loctite.

Just an FYI
