CA Drivers Beware!!

I don't know if these are verified, but I got this in a email...

Starting July 1st, make sure you're hands free on the cell while driving.
************************************************** ************************************************** *****************
1. Carpool lane - 1st time $1068.50 starting 7/1/07 (The $271 posted
on the highway is old). Don't do it again because 2nd time is going to be
double. 3rd time triple, and 4th time license suspended.

2. Incorrect lane change - $380. Don't cross the lane on solid lines or intersections.

3. Block intersection - $485

4. Driving on the shoulder - $450

5. Cell phone use in the construction zone. - Double fine as of 07/01/07.
Cell phone use must be "hands free" while driving.

6. Passengers over 18 not in their seatbelts - both passengers and drivers get tickets .

7. Speeders can only drive 3 miles above the limit.

8. DUI = JAIL (Stays on your driving record for 10 years!)

9. As of 07/01/07 cell phone use must be "hands free" while driving.
Ticket is $285. They will be looking for this like crazy - easy money for police department.

10. Cigarettes out the window = $300

I saw a teaser on the news this morning that some changes were coming for the carpool lanes, but I didn't get to see the actual story. I thought the handsfree requirement was a year away. It looks like I need to get some kind of handsfree for my wife's Yukon.

I can't believe the cigarettes out the window is only $300. With as many devastating fires as we get around here, that should be charged as 'attempted arson' in my opinion. That's a huge pet peeve of mine.

I thought the cell phone law wasn't going into effective until July 1 of 2008?

I actually had a cigarette that some retard chucked out his window come fying into my car and burn a hole in the back seat of my civic racer on the freeway once. I couldn't believe it happened. Now everytime I see some douche flick a cirarette out the window, I give them the bird...

And as far as CA's bullshit legal practices go, I would be more concerned about this new development: http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread/2020512

Wow! There's a pretty clear message to the illegal racers! I can't believe how many times these guys have been busted but they keep doing it anyway. I agree with the guy who said they should auction the cars/parts for charity rather than crush them.

The Cali cell thing isn't until July of 2008. The others all seem like BS; you can get pulled over for going 1 mph over the speed limit, sometimes you can get away with 10. Speeding is at the Officers discretion.

As far as the car crushing thing, I think it is a real problem. From what the articles say, the state only has to prove your vehicles vin tags were tampered with or removed to get a court order to destroy the vehicle. It doesn't even really have to do with racing at all. This sure has some guys freaked as JDM motors and transmission don't come with vin tags on them to start with. I think I would shit a brick if a cop impounded my civic for this...

CA makes me sick...

Some of the missing VIN tags were the ones that come on the body= missing because half the car was stolen!!!
They cant sell parts that are not legal for CA Smog AND they want to make a show of FORCE that says- we ticket you once- the next ime we catch you we impound- then......

Cars modified beyond DOT legal- which takes very little to exceed- like headlight minimum height 22 inches- they can impound the car- not street legal!

Street Racers KILL innocent bystanders and people minding their own business- everyday

The cost of going to a racetrack and doing it safely are far less than the other option

And I cant wait till cell phones are required hands free-
90 percent of the drivers I see not signalling and not paying attention outside the car in general, - arm up- phone to head- mind on call not on car

Number 7 is . There is no legal cushion above the speed limit. A cop can (and will if he/she is in a bad mood) pull you over. They're just not likely going to because there are other people going much faster.
