A/C Problem

Hi everyone,

I just took delivery of my new ABP TL w/ navi two days ago and seem to be experiencing some AC problems and was wondering if anyone had heard of this.

When I'm driving the car when I take the car over 60mph or so it seems like the cold air cuts off. Then when I drop the speed back down to under 60mph the cold air comes back? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if there is some setting that might be doing something or not?

Thanks

That's a problem, I believe. Should be easy for the dealer to diagnose - give them a call and see what they say - be sure to report back with the fix.

Quick question:
-Is it particularly at that speed, or do you notice the A/C cut out when you are accelerating?

The reason I ask is this, the A/C does cut out when you are accelerating hard. This is to provide the most amount of power for the driver to use. It resumes operation when you let off of the throttle slightly.

Just an idea...something might NOT be wrong. Anyone else with more experience in this area...please chime in.

The A/C compressor declutches under vigorous acceleration to improve performance.

On many cars this only happens when the throttle is wide open, but on the TL it seems to kick in around half throttle -- which implies some pretty sporty driving.

I wouldn't think it's a problem unless you're noticing it at steady cruise or under "less than vigorous" acceleration.

Hi everyone,

You guys were exactly right. The A/C was cutting out on accelleration when the car was in Manual shift mode. On Automatic shift mode the A/C works without a problem. But to give the car more power in the manual shift it cuts the A/C out.

I took the car to the dealer and they infomred me of this.

Thanks for the help!
