Brembo Rotors

So I know that brembo makes brakes for several high end cars but I came across these rotors for my 04 TL for $35 a piece. Any thoughts on these? I am just looking for replacements and not looking for any performance upgrade.

in my experience rotors are important, but the pad u use has more to do with the stopping power. i would say brembos for 35 bux, sounds a little fishy, but if you know its legit i would go for it

autopartswarehouse is legit if I remember and from what I've heard on the forum. It isn't slotted or drilled so I'd say it's legit?

It appears that one is for M/T. Is there a difference between M/T and A/T front rotors?

I got my aftermarket drilled/slotted rotors and pads from "Rotor Pros" and am very happy with them. Ask for Rich and tell him Tom L recommended you.

Guys, I am about to pull the trigger on 4 Brembo rotors. There are two models of rear rotors here with a dollar in price difference and I am not sure what the difference is. This seems to be a deal too good to be true for OEM?

If you have a Type-S, then there's no difference in the front rotos between the two transmissions, both have a 4 Piston Brembo setup with larger rotors.

If you have a BASE TL, then there is a difference. M/T has the same brakes as the Type-S, 4 piston Brembo Calipers with a large brake rotor. A/T has a 1 piston caliper with a small rotor.

Just because these are made by Brembo, I wouldn't automatically assume that they are ONLY for the Type-S or M/T. Brembo could possibly make an OEM replacement for the regular size rotors.

My recomendation is that I wouldn't assume at all, I would just contact the store and find out what you've got there.

You are right, but I would think they are a good replacement especially for the price?

I'm a little confused/suspicious. The link says "OE comparable", not OEM.

I wouldn't be too sure, the website clearly says "BASE".

I dont think the TL 04-06 rotors are brembos so I dont think it would say OEM.

They are out of stock anyway. I checked and the fronts are for MT and the rear part number ending in 9071 is for the MT. Oh well 3 weeks or so.

Looks fishy to me too. And if you're going to go cheap on something, don't go cheap on your brakes. I went cheap on a rotor/pad setup before and I have since replaced them after they almost killed me.

Nothing wrong with buying parts at a cheap price as long as they are the correct ones. Just make sure that is the correct part number and your good to go.

I always double check part numbers by referencing multiple websites and using google. Brembo's website is practically useless for part numbers though...

If you check the Brembo site, they make no rotors for the rear, or at least they have no application in their catalogue. The front from Brembo for the 6 MT is a completely different part number 09.8840.10, and no front rotors listed for the A/T????

That's the part number for the 04-05 AT fronts. Says it right on the info page for the rotor. Their website doesn't list anything for the 6MT front, or any rears.

I stand corrected, as that is the 300mm diameter rotor or as stated, fronts for the A/T.

^^This.

You have Brembo 4-piston Front Calipers (big black gloss caliper with "ACURA" on it) if you have a 2004 - 2006 MT or 2007 - 2008 Type-S (AT & MT).

The Front disc specs for the Brembo 4-Piston caliper are:

12.2 in (310 mm) diameter,
0.98 in (25 mm) rotor thickness

You can get a replacement disc at NAPA (the list it for the MT) for ~$55 per disc. They work fine.

I just bought a set of Brembo fronts for my GF's TL and they are the standard caliper 11.8 Diameter ones. I need the larger ones made for the Brembo calipers (4 piston ones)

Bearcat thank you for clearing this up as i spent an hour with customer service with DriveWire who by the way was absolutely clueless with regards to what Rotor i need.

So just to confirm your statement ... if i buy a rotor designated for a Manual Transmission Acura TL 2006 they will work with the Brembo calipers?

Or make sure it cross references to the Acura part # which is: 45251-SEP-A51

Yes. Absolutely.

I had a similar isssue with NAPA. I wanted a front disc or the 2007 AT Type-S (i.e. Brembo 4-piston caliper).

They kept telling me that the automatic trans TL takes a smaller rotor. I kept saying, "not the Type-S". "Uh-huh." "Un-uh." "Does too." "Does not."

Finally I just said, "I need a rotor for a 2006 MT." "You don't have an MT." "Yes I do". "It won't fit." "Let me worry about that."

So what car does your GF have again? Type-S??

Funny, when you go to that link, it doesn't specify if these rotors are for A/T or M/T. From the price, I'd say they're likely for A/T.

The link is for the M/T. The A/T brembo rotor is double that price.

That sure sounds bassackwards....

Not trying to dis anyone or start an argument here, but the link says:

"Based on manufacturer’s specs, this part is an exact fit for:
2004 Acura TL Base 6 Cyl 3.2L
"

Just be sure that's what you want before you hit the button....

Additionally, the OEM 6 MT rotor is $3 more than the OEM AT rotor at Acurapartswarehouse.com.....Not sure why the smaller Brembo AT rotor would be more than the MT rotor, much less twice as much.

Does anybody have the Brembo brand part number for the 6MT/Type-S front rotors?

Brembo's website says they don't make one...
