Aren't dvd players suppose to play movies, so are you saying it's broke? Do you have a 6spd or auto? Auto's have problems. You can search and indulge yourself with the information this site has to offer.

our head unit plays DVD-A's. which stands for DVD-AUDIO.
it will not play DVD VIDEO.

without telling us WHAT you purchased how can we advise you ON what to do with maintenance?

How many miles do you have on the car?
has the timing belt been changed?
have you changed all fluid?
auto or 6mt?
etc

Well for starters, having an 06 can get you into some trouble with the HFL module going out and causing your battery to drain. Must watch out for that. If you cant go more than two days of not driving your car before your battery dies you may have to replace the module. Other than that, more info on the car is needed.

Sorry about the lack of detail - its a 2006 5-speed automatic with 77K miles & a 150k Warranty

I've driven it 115MPH and it rides SMOOTH!!

Haha did you seriously just ask that? How are you commenting in a 3G TL message board, knowing full well that they all come with DVD audio players and asking if they are supposed to play movies?

Mr Obvious here, letting you know that he likely wouldn't have posted what he posted had he known "full well" what you claim one should know just because they have a magic membership on Acurazine.

(He owns an Accord, BTW)

Sorry, but i try not to be a sheep that goes along with everyone else and just assume he has the stock unit.

And yes, I do own an accord. However I do know what a stock TL has feature wise, and again, for all I know he has an after market dvd player and is asking about that.

Just change the fluids for peace of mind and the trans pressure sensors and rock it til something breaks. Look into using Dex III (GM trans fluid) instead of the Honda stuff for a happy trans.

Depending on how much you drive on a daily basis and how long you plan to keep the car, you will soon or not so soon need to have your A-134 service done (it hits around 100K miles, mine was 105K). This is a big servicing ($$$) that includes your timing belt, which is extremely important, don't ignore it because if the belt goes you are looking at a new engine. You do not need to have this done at an Acura dealership, you can have it done at a Honda service department for quite a bit less. I just had mine done at my local Honda dealer and they did a great job and I saved around $400. There is a thread about it on the forum and one contributor mentioned that if you like wrenching you could save yourself around another $200+ by doing the spark plugs yourself and just tell them to do everything else. I treated myself and just had Honda do the plugs on mine.
I know you still have 20K+ miles to go before it hits, but this service is over $1000...yes that is three zeros...depending on where and what you have done. I needed to budget for my A-134 and it was nice to have the heads up early so I didn't have to take on CC debt to pay for it.
Enjoy your new ride

So the guy buys an Acura TL, which comes stock with a DVD audio player, and asks if there is a way to make it play movies. Your superior unsheep-like intellect tells you that this person obviously couldn't be talking about the factory DVD-a player and he must be asking how to get his aftermarket DVD video player to play movies.

That is impeccable logic my friend! You should have just saved yourself and said you didn't know that the TL came with a DVD-a!

Do you actually have a point? Or anything to contribute? You should focus your energy on things that are more constructive.
