Nah, painting is permanent. Maybe the next owner won't like them. You'd have to buy a new set. You can take the vinyl off if you want, when you want. Paint may end up uneven and look weird if light is trying to transmit through. It will make your sidemakers functionless.
Most of us that want to black out sidemarkers still want functionality and at least 30% light transmission. Thta means the tint shouldn't be too dark. It's just that sleek matched look when they are turned off that we want.
And then there are those that don't want the functionality at all and just want them 100% matched. That's different, might as well paint them, body color while you're at it.

false. u can use transparent base coat with black in it...the more coats u do the darker it goes...my tails and sides are painted (which i did) and they are still very bright, but yes u are right about the permanent part. and in my own opinion they look way better than tint...no squeegee marks, not wavy, and never dull..

Okay just to follow up on this thread. I went ahead and order the damn thing. So as i try to put them on the film is way to big for the side marker. They claim to be computer cut to fit the TL side marker which is false information. i email the seller for refund or negative feedback. Still working on resolution.
