so on the way home from getting my girl on the highway and a little 8th gen SI gets behind me reallllly close, so i oblige and take off and we go around light traffic and i cant shake this fool. at one point he gets in front of me and were both at WOT and im barely catching up to him. and were going higher speeds like maybe 9 -11mph. i ended up passing him doing like 12 and then stopped because of my bsing girlfriend. anywaysssssss

Circlejerk aside, I can say that there are a lot of factors that contribute to this, including his mods, his skill level, and the fact that you had someone with you.

You have a car with a pretty much ageless design, reliable engine, excellent track record when it comes to safety, lots of features (for an 08), and relatively quick acceleration for that impending zombie apocalypse/surprise tornado/other emergency. I don't see that as a problem.

My buddy has an 8th Civic, and his 2nd gear jumps on me pretty good. But give it just a couple seconds, the civic is not by any means faster than a type-s.

If he's modded, he'll pull on you when you hit the shitty 4th gear.

 

I'm guessing your car is all o.e and he had to have mods to keep up with you. I've raced and pulled hard on two s2ks and plenty of 8th gen civics. My car is stock also and its a base model, but its a six speed and I've only owned manual trans cars, so I know I can drive. I've never had someone in my car if I race (not only us it extremely hazardous but its added weight) and its never at that high speed. I would imagine he had to at least had a header exhaust intake and flashpro. You should've pulled him if he hadnt had that stuff. I'm sure our tl's are heavier than an 8th gen but I don't know for sure.

My vote is your girlfriend leaves you for a guy in a slower car but with a higher IQ. Just a word of advice: after the initial stage of being able to pick up a girl by having a flashy car (which ironically aren't the girls you want in the first place), girls really couldn't give 2 shats less about what type of car you have or how fast it is. They'd rather have somebody responsible. Unless of course you're in high school then it's the exact opposite.

civic isn't worth it and no ticket or worst accident isn't fun either. Civic SI can be fast with Hondata flash with other bolt on mods but then again I do enjoy all the luxury items my TL has to offer. I will let some dumb ass doing fast and furious and later end up getting a ticket.
