Beware..."Rash of wheel thefts on LI, NY"
Damn...in this mornings local paper I read about a bunch of wheel thefts in my area. A ring of thieves stealing rimls of Hondas, Infinitys, Lexus and Acuras. Then on tonight's FOX News, they're shooting a 2008 white Type S on blocks, in front of a house. A poor couple had their rims stolen off their Type S in Hicksville, LI. I'd guess they were stock. The others in the paper were all stock and probably worth more to thieves. Keep an eye out!

Guys if there gonna take your wheels, they already know how many locks you have and how to get them off. Bottom line these guys have all this planned out wheel locks or no wheels locks there gonna take them. That why I prefer less bling! but an alarm does help, remember its a theft deterrent not theft eliminator...

hahaha you can not be too safe!!
i wonder where in LI is it? and if they are on here?

She doesn't seem like Acurazine type...lol
Atleast they left the thing on block and not sitting right on the ground. I wonder where on LI this happened. I have wheel locks, but come on now, who can't get the lock key from Acura? Maybe I should take a hint from Blackura_NY and get another set of wheel locks and an alarm...

I spent the first 21 years of my life in NYC. They've been leaving cars on blocks for many, many years. They left my older brother's car on blocks for his new tires in Bushwick when I was just a kid.
I don't get why this news is so sensational...
They would leave it on the ground if they could. The blocks are so they can get their jack out after they let the car down.

My friend had some wheel locks on his trailer, he got a flat but didn't have the key... to all of you that think your wheels are safe... lets just say wheel locks are a joke! it added 30 seconds to the time it took to remove the wheel.

Yep all over Queens and LI. Watch out! It's happening even in those neighborhoods that seem "safe". Hondas and Acuras especially! It's usually happening to cars that are ironically parked up on driveways where nobody can see what is going on. Cars parked on main arterial roads have less of a chance of this happening. But cars on those roads have more chances of getting bumped and keyed. Aaah you can't win! I need a beater. I am getting a 2nd set of wheel locks now, lol. Glad my car is garaged in CT and I sleep fine at night. I hate takin my TL to NY!

oh yea, and aside for all the wheel locks and alarms i have.... GOOD LUCK getting a jack under my car lol
if i need to work on my car, i have to drive up on several wooden boards just to get enough clearance , to slide a jack under there!!
and aside from that, i dont sleep at night
but a few years ago, professional thieves tried to steal my 2002 Explorer Sport (i had invested big $$ into that car too) after my silent alarm on the car was set off, i turned the car on via remote start and ran outside with a 2x4 and a camera... i was getting their pictures, or a piece of their skull
they got away, minimal damage to my car (they cut the wire for the OEM alarm & horn) but didnt know about the aftermarket one.....
after that, i slept in my car for 4 days straight with that camera, and that juicy 2x4... just waiting..... watching

I thought it was kinda funny in a way that the short advertisement before the news video was for the TL and then you see it on blocks for the report.
BUt yeah that does suck kinda reminds me of the rash of SI rims from the 99 & 00 that were disappearing like crazy.

I honestly dont think they do especially if they are factory Acura locks. Im pretty sure these thieves have all wheel locks like sockets in a tool box.
If they want your wheels that bad they will get them.

Maybe we can use some loctite. The kind that requires the use of power-tools to bust em' loose... Then keep a battery powered impact wrench in the trunk if you ever need to remove the lugs... Maybe that will help?
