Back to Basics ... Bye Bye TL
Back to Basics ... Bye Bye TL
Didn't see this day coming so soon, but I have traded in my 2008 TL on a 2014 Honda Civic Si. I owned a '99 Si for 12 years and loved that car, but as I was crossing the other side of 40 figured I was ready for an auto, V6 and a little luxury. Well, it wasn't for me. This was my first auto and despite the great engine and sport shifting transmission, it was just too mundane a drive. That combined with not being able to shake the feeling that I bought a car that was based on a design dating to pre 2004 AND the constant worry about dash cracks and transmissions, I decided to let it go.
I looked at the VW CC R-Line; Acura ILX (manual) and Jetta GLI. I was interested in the 2015 GTI and the Mazda 3, but didn't want to wait for the GTI and Mazda 3s (the bigger engine) could not be head with a manual.
I am really impressed with the technology in the new Civic's, it's quite impressive; from being able to display Honda's GPS app from your phone on the 7" touchscreen to the headlights turning on when you turn on your windshield wipers and Siri Hands-Free, it's all pretty neat.
The car has a stiff ride ("sport" tuned syspension + 18" wheels / 40 series tires + FIRM seats) but I am adjusting. Loving the control a manual gives and how driving is fun again.
Anyway, wanted to thank everyone for all of the information and ideas shared on Acurazine that I learned from. Here are a couple of pics:

Congrats
I wish they'd bring the new Type R over here! I cant go back to a 200hp i4 anymore, but I would also take a manual Si over an auto 3G.
More pics of those seats please! Are they power seats?

even tho, the Si has WAY less power and the TL will spank it at any speeds...
he chose this car because it offered way more "control" than the archaic 5 speed auto.
this more control over the engine gives the OP way more enjoyment than the 3G.
the context of your question does not match his reasoning on why he bought the car.
basically, the Si is nice and offers a drivers car. being more engaged in a car can bring enjoyment over the raw sheer power of a bigger engine
Congrats to you man! I loved my 07 Civic Si 6 speed! But, I matured a little and now have my TL type S 6 speed!!! I love it, and do not miss my rough riding Si. My Si was fun, but my TL-S 6 speed is fun, and luxurious too. I love it, but the Si's will always have a place in my heart. I always look at the Si's I see as I blow by them in my TL-S! We are all Hondas anyway!
Performance wise specifically, both are quick, but accomplish thier speed very differently.
well, he stated in the original thread that the auto 5 speed TL Sucked balls.

... it's surprisingly quick.Congrats to you man! I loved my 07 Civic Si 6 speed! But, I matured a little and now have my TL type S 6 speed!!! I love it, and do not miss my rough riding Si. The Si's ride is FIRM! and it's LOUDER! I am adjusting ... I tell ya ... from inside the car, with the engine/exhaust note and close ration trans, I always feel like I am racing around now...
BTW ... Did you see C&D's write up on their long term BRZ in this months issue? Brutal and if not the exception, unfortunate!
