I bought a silver 06 tl last week and was loving it until i got home and realized that this "acura certified " TL had new paint on both bumpers.I drove it around for 4 days and clocked 1000 miles on the speedo.I took it back and the stealership let me give it back.So guess what I got instead??? a 2008 type S (NBP)...WOO hOO!!
I have always loved these cars and now I have one couldn't be happier !! I feel a big difference in the type S vs the normal TL.Anyways i just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.

 

Do you need to put extra $$$ on top of that? Glad that you got an S.

honestly,the first time i just wanted a TL, I wast trying to be picky.The only thing i knew i wanted was navigation.I went down to the dealership and bought the 1st one i test drove,a silver 06 AT with 13k on the clock.I took it home,me and the wife took it out for the weekend and drove it back.That monday ,I took it to a friends shop and he looked it over carefully and showed me where the bumpers had been resprayed and showed me overspray in a few places.I was a little pissed but I know that dealer ships sometimes do not the the complete history.My friend told me to call the dealership and talk to them and let them know as a certified Acura certain things had to be done right and that for more than 25k this car had to have a certain perfect feel to it.so no scratched,dents or imperfections.
well after talking to the wife,we decided that if they would let me We would trade up to a new one.All I had to do was call the dealership and tell them i am willing to spend more money to get exactly what i want and they did it.There was no yelling no threatening ,they just gave me what I wanted.
So I went in ,they had a few different type S to choose from ,but only black and silver.I test drove the black one ,fell in love even more so than the first time ,and took her home .I didnt even have to put more cash down.They just wanted to make sure i took care of them when their customer service people call for the survey.

hope this long story explains why i did not get the type S the first time.

Oh and I will take some pics tomorrow ,I realize that being new my word might not suffice,LOL

So let me get this straight. You bought a Used 2006 TL, took it back to the dealer and exchanged it for the same price for a brand new 2008 39k sticker type-S?

No,no,no no one said i got it for the same price,i definitely paid a lot more for it ! about 36k.

 

I didnt see anywhere in his statment that he exchanged it for a type S he gave it back and bought a type S....I did the same thing my first time around, I bought a POS "certified pre owned" 05 and made them take it back along with a long list of problems with it, I then bought a new 06

he said he didnt have to put anymore cash DOWN on it

 

yeah i spent more money,LOL worth every penny for the difference between the two

nah I didnt qualify,the credit was not up to par.

I'm glad it all worked out for you, but I guess I'm not really sure why an "Acura Certified" car can't have re-painted bumpers.

BTW, what credit score do they require for their best financing?

 

the bumper looked like it was peeling and had bumps like an orange peel.At 26k you expect almost a brand new car.specially with only 13-14k on the clock.
I am not sure about the rate needed to get best financing,but i didnt qualify,LOL !!
