By the way if someone votes "I don't know" what tranny I have...please walk away from the TL. There is a nicely priced Schwinn somewhere waiting for you.

I think the Auto tranny will have a higher re-sale value over the 6spd but 6spd is more fun to drive and more power. Depends what you want I guess.

I have to deal with Traffic nearly every day....auto was the most logical choice for me...
besides, the tiptronic shifter gives you great passing speed

Interesting-----

I do not know what the build ratio is but I'm sure there are many more auto than manual TL's out there.

When I was looking at 3 series I was told the ratio was 90/10 auto/manual.

In some of the initial 04 TL press releases, it stated that 15% of TL production would be manuals. At least, if my memory serves me correctly. I thought that BMW ratio of auto to manual to be much higher (in favor of the manual).

This is a totally subjective question so here is my totally subjective response: MANUAL. Allows the car to wake up and puts a smile on your face.

I can give so many other reasons, but you'll have to go this one yourself.

yep and my Wife drives it sometimes also. If I had to deal with less traffic I would have gotten the stick

Won't even consider it if not for the stick, and my wife agree.

STICK. I bought a 5AT in case the wife needs to drive it. However, she has not driven my car once in the nearly 13 months I've owned it.

The sports shift on the 5AT is totally sufficient where a 6MT would be needed ( for normal city/suburban driving). I can drop into SS to keep my rpms up for quick response lane changing or acceleration. It will even down shift to 1st automatically when you brake to a stop. Well done, Acura.

Actually, I think that it would be the other way around. Since any kind of rarity will drive the price up (whether it be transmission type, navi, or even color choice), the MTs will probably command a higher price. I noticed that when I bought my RX-7.

As for me, I got an auto, and I haven't regretted it at all.. The TL is the daily driver and I already have a sports car.

actually, i think the sport shift sucks and cannot be compared to what a clutch has to offer. the lag in ss is ridiculous. IMHO, honda should have left out the ss from the AT, simpler. that auto-downshift and auto-up-out-of-1st is really (IMHO) a crappy feature of ss in the AT.

go MT for 2 reasons
1. your daily commute is not rush hour NY or LA traffic
2. you want more of that "sport" feeling out of the car

go AT if
1. you commute alot in crazy ass NY or LA traffic
2. you're tired of stick (i've had nothing but stick since 1993), AT is easier on my legs

Nope, automatics appeal to a broader range of folks, thus better resale. It's strictly an economic thing.

Having traded a 6MT for the 5AT I would say the auto is the route to go. While the stats show the manual to be putting slightly more horsepower to the ground and to be slightly quicker in the quarter mile, from the seat of the pants perspective, the auto feels stronger. I think is is the manner in which the transmission shifts that creates this impression. While the 6MT shifter has solid feel, both the clutch and the shifter are stiff and nowhere near as slick as a Civic 5MT. The auto is also a much better riding vehicle probably owing to the the manual being equiped with the high performance summer tires. Lastly, as one who likes to keep a car clean I don't miss the inordinate amount of brake dust from the manual equipped Brenbos

I first test drove the 5AT and then the 6MT. I've been driving stick for many years and started
thinking about an automatic after one time too many of being stuck in bumper to bumper
highway traffic . The 5AT was nice; the 6MT was fantastic! I went for the fun (and the back roads ;-)
I've been driving my 2005 Anthracite/Ebony/NAV for two weeks now, 600+ miles on it, and loving every minute of it. Any excuse will do to spend more time in the car ...

I have encountered torque steer accelerating into a turn but will learn to deal with it.
