Auto close door feature question

About the two notch front doors that keep hitting my wife in the shins. Has anyone tried substituting the door checks from another model to fix this irritation?

So far my solution is to gently kicking the door back until it stays open. I’m hoping that Acura might have a more elegant fix by now but my dealer says no dice.

I wonder if other manufacturer car sites that offer this same feature have found a solution.

I checked that out when I got my TL last year, but the mounting bracket for the TL doesn't look like any other mounting bracket I could find.

Maybe someone with some metalworking knowledge could take one off, fill in the two detents that are there, and make a new detent in the middle where it should be.

This is the worst feature of my TL, in fact, the only bad feature I have found. My wife had shoulder surgery and can't open the door far enough so it doesn't come back and hit her.

I never knew this was considered a feature. I just let it sit in the first notch and only use the second notch if I'm just sitting down chatting with a friend outside. If the space is too small I just hold the door open enough so I can barely get through.

It’s really not a feature its more of a passenger disabling device that tends to home in on unsuspecting females.

Mine will barely hold the door open when I am parked on my steep driveway. I say "barely" because it holds it until I turn my attention away and catch the door with my shins. This happened yesterday while I was vacuuming the interior. If I'm thinking ahead, I will back the car in the driveway so the nose points down hill, but I'm usually not that clever.
