Atf fluid verification

Hey gang, doing the atf service, changed the filter out, drained the transmission, I am putting the redline Racing ATF (2 quarts) and the Redline Lightweight Racing Fluid (1 Quart) back in the transmission. I noted on the bottle or redline that it says Type-F all over it, doesn't our cars take something else? I went with the stuff recommended in the garage how to's here on the forum, just don't recall anyone mentioning the compatiability of type f to our cars.

Thanks for any help!

It's technically not compatible if you follow the specs, but it works fine.

Whew, I was getting worried. I have it in the car already, haven't started it yet. I just went with what all the members were recommending, but then I thought about it when I saw the bottle and got concerned.

As Brad said, no worries. Your trans will last much long and shift much better on this stuff. According to Honda, technically nothing but Z1 is compatable. However, we know Z1 is one of the worst fluids for the Honda 5at. Kind of ironic.

Would you mind posting back with your impressions of this fluid?

I just recently did a single drain and fill with the 2qts Redline Racing and 1qt Lightweight Racing and here are my first impressions after a few days of driving:

1) All around there is a slightly better shift quality (I thought this might have just been in my head, except that I noticed item 2 below)
2) Significantly quicker and cleaner step-on-the-gas downshifts!
