Anyone notice horrible blindspots on our cars?

Anyone? I've driven a 2013 mazda6 before and before that an infiniti i30 so they're full size sedans, but something about my 2008 acura tl with its large pillars tick me off...

Anyone else noticed difficulties in checking over ur shoulder when changing left lanes or making a left on in intersection and trying to avoid pedestrians lol? Thinking of investing in a small blindspot mirrors for my car Lol

if you have blind spots, your mirrors are adjusted wrong.

if adjusted correctly; there will be no blind spots.
you will be able to see a car coming behind you in the rear view, watch it drive along side you in your drivers side mirror and finally you get to see it pass you as you look straight ahead.

The B pillar is annoying but...

Yes! My driving instructor and the driving license authority in my province both ripped on me for having my mirrors set "incorrectly" but exactly like this and I had to retake my driving test while seeing half my freaking car in my side mirrors for them to be pleased...

Once you realize this, you also realize how stupid and archaic most driving schools and exams are.

Drove an 83 Cutlass Supreme Coupe in high school and part of college, that thing had blind spots, I don't know what you're talking about with the TL.

I thought mine had blind spots, and if I looked over my left shoulder, the driver's headrest was in the way. Years ago, I put on Multivex mirrors, and they completely eliminate the blind spots. Unfortunately, they're no longer made, so another (but less desirable) option is the cheap convex stick on mirrors on the upper or lower outside aspect of the mirror.

To be honest no. You want to see blind spots, drive an S2000 with the roof up. Or a newer model Buick.

The TL is one of the best cars I've driven for NOT having blind spots. If you want a gigantic pillar blocking your view then drive a G35 coupe haha

I've had some times where I had to look twice because of the A pillar.
I know I'm not the only one, I remember the A pillar being brought up here before.

Now that you mention it, I do it more often than I'd like. Turning left on a green light with pedestrians walking around, at night, with rain, you just hope no one gets in your way...

Exactly this... makes me feel like I'd hit a pedestrian one day *knocks on wood*, plus since the side mirrors have a blue tint to them and my windows have a 20% tint it's hella hard to see anything at night when it's raining

Hope typically isn't a good driving methodology.

Maybe try 35% tint?

I might be exaggerating a bit. Nevertheless, still need to stretch out my neck a bit too often.

Adjust side view mirrors according to diagram above. Looking at the side view mirror, you should see the back of the vehicle in the mirror and their front in your peripheral vision.
You shouldn't see the rear of your car while driving, only when parking and you can have auto down mirrors set on reverse or adjust your body using the armrest when parking. I hate unnecessarily having the side view mirrors moving everytime I put it in reverse when not parking.
Turning left at lights can have the pillar sometimes block the view, moving your head towards the window allows better view.

i was wondering why the guy who owned the car before me had his mirrors so wide out. all makes sense now! i thought it was for the jacked trucks blinding me with their headlights.

That's how I've been setting my mirrors since I was 16. 90% of my friends have their side mirrors aimed directly backwards.

My biggest issue is backing out of a parking spot with the 3rd gen. The c pillar hides pretty much everything especially when a car is parked next to me. Usually have to inch out and hope no one is driving by. Never had this issue with my 2nd gen or several other cars I've driven. My dad refuses to drive my car because of the poor visibility.

Are you 3'11" by any chance? This might be your biggest problem.

Like most posters here, I've NEVER had an issue with blindspots. I find the TL to be nice and easy to back up without issue. Took about 10 days to get used to the dimensions of the car and that's about it.

Also A+ on properly adjusted mirrors. Doing a complete shoulder check scares the crap out of me, because I can't see if the guy in front of me is slamming on his brakes for whatever reason for those 2 seconds. Ive seen enough wrecks happen because of that, while the person at fault was technically trying to do "the right thing". With my mirrors out far enough, a half shoulder check is more than sufficient and I get back to viewing the road ahead of me.

You and me both! The only issue is that I sometimes can't tell how close I am getting to the back wall, so I get out and realize I can still move back another 20 inches, lol. I then grudgingly get back in, throw it in neutral and push it so I dont have to start the engine for 5 seconds. *facepalm*

I can say the A pillar annoys me a bit, the B pillar sometimes quickly do my blindspot check, but the C pillar is a new one... Never had an issue with it, and I'm not really great at parking to be honest.

I've done the same thing backing in and leaving like 2ft, and our cars aren't very short.

That's how I fucked up my car backing up into a tree.

I wish I had one that shows distance. My sister's 08' Tahoe doesn't have distance or even width lines.

If you can see cracks on the brick wall you're close enough?

Thought of a backup cam just for sake, but I don't want an extra dingy screen on my dash. It would need to get integrated with a Nexus 7 or something.

I've lightly tapped things, but I feather the clutch/throttle very lightly. No damage to date, luckily. I find the bumpers on the TL can be very misleading at times, lol.
