Any tranny problem with the 04TL?

I was on a G35 forum and everytime a G35 owner is complaining about problems he has with his G35 (I can tell you there's a lot of them) there's always someone that writes :
hey what you have with your G35 is only a minor problem ... bla bla ... consider yourself lucky that you don't have an Acura TL with all the tranny problems !!!

What is this ? is this true ?

Has anyone with 04TL had any problem with their tranny up to now ?

Thanks

I believe they are referring to the 2G TLs (1999-2003), which did have a transmission issue. The 2004s have no known transmission issues.

not yet the key phrase .. the recalls of the mdx's is not a good sign .. and well, honda has never been known for good automatic trannies .. that's what my research has concluded .. engines==bullet proof .. trannies=crap

Maybe Honda should make the trannies out of the same stuff as the engines.

I've noticed that when i start my car in the morning, the first shift of the tranny is followed by a faint crunching sound. By the way i have a 5 speed auto. Does anybody else have this problem?

Sound happens between P and R? Does it only occur once? Or it takes place each time you shift to R?

Could you detail it?

I have that slight clunking sound when I shift from P to D and start pulling away. At first I thought it was the automatic door locks but its not because I have it programmed to lock when I shift from P to D not when I'm pulling away. I posted a thread on this issue little while ago and a few have said they have that sound too.

Hopefully its nothing wrong.

True, but there isn't any major problems with the G35. The CL and TL and now the Odysee and MDX, Pilot all have serious tranny problems. I had CL-S and went almost through 2 trannys. I got rid of the car before the 2nd one went dead.

The 04 TL is already showing signs of the problems. Per a Acura Master Tech I know, he said they are already getting some in.

I still believe in 5AT that sound will take place while you shift through R gear. It's normal for FWD, especially for Honda/Acura.

I noticed the same exact thing, usually when the engine is cold. Would like to know if this is a common phenomena.

I'm pretty sure it's the ABS system performing a self-diagnostic. My TSX 6MT did it. So does my TL 5AT.

Your right NighthawkUA662, it is the ABS system performing a self-diagnostic. My 2003 Accord coupe 6mt did it and my 04 TL does it also.

no guys that ABS noise is different, thats when you put it to D and drive off. I think other ppl are talkin about is that when u shift from P to R or D, and it makes click noise, which is normal by acura/honda. I think this has been discussed before.

Right. TL Montreal never comes back to reconfirm his question, but he did indicate the noise while shifting between gears instead of the noise while driving away. :o

But, IMO, whatever noise between these two, they're all Normal.
