Any idease to expedite order?

I ordered my TL first week of September. They wrote the wrong order and didn't include navi for the ABP 6MT (Salesman's writing wasn't so good, and then he left for few weeks on vacation, so manager didn't read it right..... Good thing I checked up on the status!). Anyway, they said they have a new "system" that allows them to change their orders for substituting cars, but it is a new system, and they haven't got much response from Acura. My car is now slated for end of Dec. build unless they can get one of these transfer substitutions.

I called Acura 800 number, but they deal mostly with Warranty's.

Any ideas of how I can get this car sooner? My Integra is up for sale now, as dealer first told me end of Nov., so now I'm worried.

I'll keep talking to dealer, but I was wondering if there are any dealers in this forum that can give me some ideas of what the dealership is able to do for expediting a shipment.

Might want to try some other dealers in the expanded area.

The absolute fastest way to get your car is to not order it.

You see, once you put down a deposit, the dealer thinks you're "off the market" and won't go buy your car at another dealership. So what motivation do you think he has to get you your car quickly? That's right: zero!

OTOH, if you tell several dealers to call you when the car you want comes in, and you don't give them any money, you'll be amazed at how much more attentive they will become, and how quickly your phone will ring.

This is precisely what I did last year when I bought mine. The dealer I ended up buying from called me just as they were backing the car off the truck. Another dealer called me the next day; he also had a car for me.

Bottom line, if you want it fast, don't "order" it.

fugue, was yours a 6MT? It seems like most of the time you're going to have to order one of those to gete xactly what you want. Unless its something really common, like Black/Black

You could ask them to do a dealer swap. However if your color combo is rare it won't work. Also if you are a fanatic about delivery miles, you'll have no control over it.

They checked on dealer swap, and said they went even as far as Calif. and nothing available. Said there was only one anywhere and it was already pre-sold. It is ABP with Quartz interior 6MT Navi.

The dealer has been good for my last car and looks like they are trying, but just not getting any results.

Unless...

Unless you're willing to be flexible on the color and or the 6MT and go with an automatic I think you're pretty much stuck with waiting.

The 6MT is hard to come by and even more so if you want NAVI. Acura just isn't making that many of them and dealers generally don't order them for stock.

The current days supply in inventory of the TL, as of the first of November, is 24 days, which is a really low number. It means they're still selling like crazy and supply is about matching demand. So Acura dealers, in general, aren't going to be too motivated, they don't have to be.

I got the days supply number from the latest issue of Automotive News.

I wasn't aware that you could custom-order a TL like you can with domestic makes. Aren't all of the combinations controlled by factory allocation and distributed as Acura sees fit, leaving dealers to trade amongst themselves if needed?

FWIW, mine is an auto w/nav.

I'm not really sure how it works, I just know that my dealer had to put an order in for my 6MT. Supposedly it takes around 3 months.

I ordered my '05 ABP/Camel 6MT/Nav at the end of September. The dealer emailed me to say it has finally been built and is on its way to him. Hopefully, I should be able to pick it up this weekend!
