after debadging...

what do you recommend to take off the left over adhesive? i've heard that lighter fluid actually makes for good cleaning but not sure.. thanks!

tried searching the debadging threads but didn't find anything.

I would run a claybar over the areas to remove any residue before applying polish/wax.

speaking of debadging, there was a question i wanted to ask... but felt it wasn't worth an entire thread:

where are the holes located on the center emblem? how big are the holes, and how far are they apart from each other? can they be covered up with the 2G "A C U R A" lettering? has anyone done this? i've seen someone do that on a TSX.

I considered it, but the way the trunk lid is on the 3rd gen, there is a crease where the Acura logo is, so the "A C U R A" wouldn't sit properly

yeah, that's why i wanted to know where the holes were. is it behind the "A" in the middle? are they horizontal, or vertical? cuz if the holes are in the center of the emblem, then the letters would fit ok. i can't wait to get my copy of the TL service manual...

Actually its only 1 hole.... it MIGHT work... someone who has removed their emblem to paint it can tell us...

eh, crap. i don't think it'll work if it's just one. i thought it would be two, so that the top part of the U could cover them up. but if it's just one, then it probably won't work... and even if it does, it won't look right. i dunno why, but i don't like the acura emblem in the rear.

heres how i did it..... on a hot day... let the car get some heat on it... run floss in between the emblem. there will be adhesive left. den use your thumb to rub the left over adhesive off. on a hott day, it should come right. thats how i did mine... no marks left behind.

I used a heat gun from 2-4 feet away ( it was October) and followed with bug and tar remover, and then cleaner wax, then carnuba.....
