Add Bluetooth capability to any car ...

I was searching around Motorola's site, and I stumbled across this kit that allows you to add full fledged Bluetooth capability to any car. I had no idea that such a device existed. Now I'll be able to fully utilize all the cool capabilities of my new Bluetooth phone even when I'm in my wife's Volvo!

My wife needs that kit in a hurry...she likes to gab way too much when she's driving and I'm afraid she'll hurt herself or someone else.

I bought her a handsfree kit for xmas, shhhh don't tell her. :p

The kit only works with the MOTOROLA Timpeport 270c with the optional blurtooth module.

FYI

Sony Ericsson makes a similar kit for around $200 for their phones. I think it is kind of limited compared to the TL's Handsfree Link, but it has to be better than fumbling for a headset....

You didn't read the fine print: "Also compatible with other 1.1 compliant Bluetooth™ enabled wireless phones."

Go to www.driveblue.com and check out this soon-to-be available BT accessory. I hope the price is reasonable cause I will get one or two of these suckers for my other cars. I love the HFL in the TL.

Which means, of course, that this device uses the headset profile (the 270C does not support the hands-free profile).

Hmm... Might be a good gift for the wife! I can have one installed in her Z3 for Christmas, and give her my 270C phone!

What would be a good installed price for this puppy?

I wouldn't pay more than $100. I got a Motorola handsfree kit installed in my last car for about $75, and they did an excellent job.

I had the SonyEricsson handsfree Bluetooth kit in my old car.
(Early adopter of bluetooth...)

The HF kit was good at the time, but no comparison to the TL.

You could press a button to dial, but that would only work if you had tought the phone voice-dialing commands. (I believe that this only worked between the SE HF and the SE phone.)

When you dialed from the phone, you could make it automatically pick up from the car.

When the phone rang in the car, you could answer it on the HF kit, or on the phone.

You could not dial numbers by speaking; you would have to press the buttons on the phone.

Ultmiately, my old mustang was so noisy, that I used the BT headset much more than I used the HF kit.

My personal recommendation is to get the BT Headset before you get the HandsFree car kit.

Having said that; if anyone wants to buy a HF car kit (used) for $100, then please PM me.
