That is it
We're paying $1.27.9 for regular and $1.39.9 for premium, per litre. That's over $5 and nearly $6 per gallon, respectively. So quit your whining!!
So what you're saying is an extra $17/tank or $68/month (at most if you're bone dry) is causing you to downgrade to a Civic. I agree with the comment on why you didn't start off with a Civic, since it seems like car payments and insurance will suck you down a lot more than the gas. This was probably your first car to boot and a mighty nice one at that.
How about driving less or charging your friends for some gas money if you're the dude always driving? There are definitely costs induced downgrading as well that can't be ignored- those costs could pay for a lot on incremental gas expense.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. $80 REALLY is pushing it... MAYBE 65-70..MAYBE. What kind of gas are you putting? IE: Shell, Valero, Randalls?
I can't help but shake my head at all the posters talking about how bad his mileage must be, or how he must drive so often to spend $80 on a tank. A tank is a tank, its the same size no matter how, where or when you drive it. Most of us probably put in 14-15 gallons per fillup. No idea how Dat's spending ~$5.40 a gallon, assuming he's not overfilling his tank or just flat out wrong on the cost of a tank.
And to echo VicTL06, up here in Canada the price for premium gas is around $5.50 a gallon, depending where you live. So yes, $80 a tank is very possible... but not from anywhere in the states as far as I know.
I realize Dat's come down from the ledge, but I'll agree with some previous posters about the Civic Si and its gas consumption. Having owned an '09 Si for 2.5 years I can tell you that my '07 TL-S gets maybe ~15% worse mileage.. that's it. It will depend on your driving habits, but that's what.. 40-50 bucks a month difference for an average driver? I'm paying $7 more a month in insurance and the maintenance will be slightly higher but comparable. No contest which car is better overall value in my mind (cost of ownership included).
I really need to check Azine from work.. missed out on a good party today

You're half right - our dollar's actually worth more than yours right now.
Where we get killed is gasoline taxes: like over 30%!

LOL this thread is on FIYA !!!
OP...there is a reason TL is a luxury vehicle....i dont think the Civic Si will solve anything....you will prolly sell that and get something else....my 2 cents to you will be to get something more economical...Honda Fit/Kia Soul maybe....This will fix the gas problem and be easy on ur insurance/monthly payments....

here is my math... the tl has a 17 gallon fuel tank... of that 17, 2 of it is in the reserve tank... so when there is 2 gallons left in the tank you are at BELOW the E mark on the fuel gauage. now the gas here is approx $4.25 a gallon so $4.25 X 15 = $63.75.
for the sake of argument lets say you used all 17 gallons (which would be very stupid) the math would come out to like this 17 X $4.25 = $72.25
that still does not make 80 dollars. putting 19 gallons of premium fuel into your 17 gallon fuel tank would equal $80.75 at the price of $4.25 a gallon of premium gas
im not gonna read all 4 pages of this but after reading the first few comments this is what i have to say:
i call complete BS on the $80, stop exaggerating. i've filled as much as 15 gallons in my TL but that was when i drove it until it was completely on the E line. now do the math, 15 gallons and $4 a gallon is only $60!!! no way ever will you get $80 i guarantee you, you CANNOT fight math, so trust me, im a mechanical engineer.
also, when u get ur civic u will regret it, i can rape civics si's all day in my TL-S, i dunno about the base TL but they should beat it too. and you know the civic si revs really high when highway cruising, and guess what that means? BAD MPG! just because the civics have a smaller tank doesnt mean you are saving gas, just means you need to fill up more often.
also, i drive 24k miles/year so dont tell ME that you drive a lot.
/end rant

Someone also said $2000 a yr for insurance? oh please lol when i first started at 17 yrs old i was making payments of $860 a month for a simple 2005 Honda Accord. I was only able to do that for like $7 months until i was finally able to switch my insurance xD. And now i pay $103 a month with accident forgiveness!
Wow, your car is paid off and you're complaining about spending an extra few bucks on gas. I say drive less or get a better job so you can pay for gas and normal maintenance for the car for that matter. Sounds like you might not be able to afford a car and a bike might suit you better. How about insurance- do you pay for that or does somebody else?
Hey - just curious, what kind of gas mileage do you get and on what gas up here? I'm pulling between 400-440 km per tank, driving somewhat conservatively. But I find it depends on the brand. I'm generally brand loyal to Chevron, but I've been experimenting with other fuels, lately. I found I get the best gas mileage from Costco gas, but I find that the car has noticeably more pep when I fill up with Shell...although, that has meant moderately inferior gas mileage, because it's more fun to punch it when it's more responsive!

That's a serious ripoff! You would've came out better with a sports car, since you were paying the price of one.
I'm glad you switched. You saved A LOT of money.

a civic does get great fuel economy.
