6MT and interlock
6MT and interlock
It might be a completely stupid question, but anyway ... Does 6MT have an interlock ?
I'm not sure it's a correct term, but in other words, is it possible to get into 4th select
of the transmission and engage reverse going from 5th gear ? Somebody mentioned
that it doesn't have an interlock which would make it a possibility and 6th gear is close
to reverse on TL.

The way I read the manual (I have a 5AT so I can't check this), on page 180, it says you cannot shift to reverse from 5th gear period, moving or not. So if you stopped the car, left it in 5th, turned off the ignition, came back and started the car, it still would not let you shift to reverse unless you shifted out of 5th gear to another gear (it says the 1st/2nd gear) first and then shifted to reverse.
6ATers, is this the way it actually works?

edit:
RonA-I'm leaving for lunch soon...maybe I'll test it out.

Just wanted to make sure before I shot my mouth off...

From reading, I figured you could shift into reverse from 1-4 or 6th, but the way it read in the manual looked like you could never shift from 5th into reverse because that is the only gear with the electric reverse lockout.
There is even a procedure in the manual that tells you what to do if you cannot shift from 5th to reverse when stopped, but I guess that is in case the system malfunctions.
