6 Speed

I have a new 2005 TL with 6 speed. Two things I have noticed.

1. Shifting into 2nd gear does not seem to be smooth. I can shift into 2nd but it is not as smooth as 3rd to fourth , fourth to fifth or fifth to Sixth gear. Any ideas?

2. When I tried to race my car from a complete stop my car starts to jerk a lot until I get into second. What am i doing wrong. It might be me?

Any feedback would be great.

Thank you

1. See this thread. It is common for the TL's. It requires some practice and concentration.

2. It is drivetrain lash. It is most noticeable in 1st gear. See this thread. Just be smoother with throttle application.

To cosmos13;

A few questions first, if you don't mind.

What car did you own previously to your new TL and what type of transmission did it have?

Does you TL's clutch seem to begin engagement almost as soon as you start to release the pedal (just off the floor)?

Is your "normal" 1-2 shift performed quickly? Do you tend to shift from 1st to 2nd at a relatively low RPM?

Please answer these and I'll try to offer some suggestions.
