5AT Aspec brake upgrade??

Hey guys, I did a search but didnt seem to find much.

I have a 04' 5AT, I was wondering, when you get the aspec package, doesnt that upgrade the brakes with the black calipers with the Acura written on them?

Are those the brembos like on the 6MT?

I think I can get the aspec brake upgrade for like $650, do you think its worth it?

the a-spec package will only give you the high performace brake pads if you have the 5AT. for $650, i think you are only getting the brake pad upgrade. there is no way you are getting the brembo's for that price. i could be wrong.

You should ask the person that's selling it to you, because if you're able to get the Brembo's brakes for that price, I think it's a good deal... I would definatly do it.

I'm trying to find out if they are actually brembo, He said its the two black calipers with the white acura written on them. The ones that come with the aspec package for the 5AT. Just trying to figure out if they are indeed brembo.

Does anyone know if thats what you get with the aspec upgrade on a 5AT?

Converting to Brembos on the 5AT is gonna cost you a some bucks. The upgrade package is not for the Brembos as everyone has indicated just for hi-perf pads. Check this post Brake Upgrade and look at the parts required. Another option is to go with a BBK from Rotora, Stoptech, and Comptech. Here's the link to Comptech I hope you don't a price shock. BTW, The Rotora BBK is way cheaper and you'll have to check Stoptech's site to get their price.

Don't forget to upgrade your spare tire if you're gonna put Brembo into your 5AT.

Ok so what I got from your replies, The aspec brake calipers on the 5AT are not brembo. But they are better than the stock....

Think its still worth the $650 for the better calipers?

Just a quick note for you to consider. High performance brake pads cause alot more brake dust than the stock pads. Therefore, by the end of the week your wheels will be looking pretty dark and in need of a good scrubing. Despite the cleaning issue, I will be looking at these pads when my stock one's are ready for replacing...

Yes, I did notice improvement. I have no scientific proof or facts, but it seemed that the car stopped in a shorter distance - and as FORSITE said - there is A LOT more brake dust with these new ones.

stoptech kit should be around 1800, comptech sells the brembo upgrade for 2300. there was a long extensive thread on brake upgrades that i suggest you read. there is a reason for the price differences between brake upgrades and you should do your homework. my suggestion is to go with the stoptech if they make a kit for the TL. i have heard nothing but good things about stoptech.

Thanks caball, the reply was meant for the original poster ..... his reference to the Brembo calipers. There's more to it than just changing the calipers. I knew what the cost of the Brembo BBK. Didn't know the cost of the Stoptech.
