3-name will be fine.
Worst case is he ends up basically where he is now, but with a different car. Hopefully not something repair prone (Alfa?), so he can just dump money into payments and not payments on a car that's permanently in the shop.

yeah but... he makes (apparently) $9/hr, buying a 40k car. If he actually makes $9/hr, that works out to, what, under $19k/year. I dunno man.

But the whole, lease an A-Civic, buy it out, dump mod money in, and then bail is a bit frivolous, but rationalizable (???) as a hobby.
Some people might build a little bit of a fiscal safety net, but YOLO.

I think he will also be eligible for mod status, as he is getting rid of Acra.

Well, fucking shit.
So, back over the "winter" I was having issues with my battery. On the "cooler" days the car would start slowly and was dead overnight a few times. One instance I jumped it and brought it to the dealer. They claimed it checked fine and there was nothing they could do under warranty. I could buy a new battery, but basically my option was to fuck off. Their recommendations was to "drive it more".
Whatever. Weather warmed up, stopped having problems, and fast forward to today. Getting an oil change and they're like "your battery and terminals are corroded and in bad shape. It's under warranty and we're replacing it."
oh. Just like I said months ago.
Well, whatever.
Also, one rear wheel is out of alignment. Guess I'm doing too much super dorifto right hand turns or something. Evidently, I YOLO too.

But hey, why not roll that negative equity into an even *worse* financial situation?
Do they do 144 month auto loans yet?

I remember stumbling across on Jalopnik, there are certain dealerships that will give you a $1500 "bad credit" incentive. That's right. If your credit score was 620, or lower, they would knock $1500 off the price of the car. I'm not saying he has bad credit, but, its ploys like these that destroy people.

But he's clearly not performing enough services to pay off ILX
Senior Moderator
Well he only gets barely over 9 dollars an hour and accepts just the tip as payment so no shit he can't pay it off...

I'm sure most of us boifuccs in here make decent coin.
A 40k car purchase isn't a thing done a whim even in our circles (jerk).
My BIL makes a decent living (6 figggss).
He's rebuilding his credit after short selling his Vegas home in the downturn '08.
He bought right before the bubble pop.
I went with him to buy a Tacoma a couple months back.
He brought 8k in cash and financed the rest to build up his credit.
I was in a drag out negotiation with the finance and general manager over their fuccboishit.
After walking out, finally got it down to 4.99% which is still high in my book (originally 8%).
I bet Jon has 0 down.. walk in that bitch finance all taxes and fees.
Shit.. probably get 8k on trade. FFS.. probably pay for fuccboi special dealer warranty (finance that too).
He's going to get fucked by everyone in the dealership.
Even the messican guy they hire to clean the car up after the sale.
The guy is going to take a shit in the backseat and jizz all up on the windshield.

Stack cash. Buy car outright. Watch finance manager cry and try to wrap their mind around how/what just happened.

Min wage should be $80/hr so everyone can buy a $40k car.

They guy asking if I want to supersize my fries should absolutely be driving a new Quattroporte.
Foreclosure netted me 4.89% on the Wagon.
Honestly, that's part of my problem with the payment being high...I'm a year in and was supposed to throw TL and all part sale proceeds at chopping payment in half...but as you know, cash is king so I hung with it for the time being.
Seems so frivolous when I think what it's costing me per month to have that beast...and that was approx a 40K loan. Scary thing is once 40 seems reasonable...50 doesn't seem so far out of reach and once the right car give you wood...you start to think "meh, maybe my kid isn't going to go to college anyway".
