Question for my home guys because I'm getting mixed reviews.
I have allergies pretty bad, my filters for my A/C are usually 1200 mpr or higher (allergen reduction etc) I change them every 3 months. At night the house drops to 61-62 degree too cold for little ones. If i turn the heater on I will wake up hella congested. (Wtf) so I started thinking maybe my ducts need to be cleaned out. Did a little research and I'm getting mixed reviews... have any of you had your ducts cleaned out? Is it worth it? Did you notice any difference, besides maybe your furnace running better?
I thought about maybe buying an air purifier for the bedroom because the air might be too dry...

I wonder if the heat is warming up some of the stuff the filter caught and allowing it through...
get a humidifier!
I used to do duct testing for the utility and I never recommended duct cleaning...good chance they can damage if you have flex duct, and if you have wrapped metal...meh.
Remember, for mold, you'd need damp and moist...and ducts are usually in the attic. Just my opinion and training...maybe it's wrong.

Wife just text me. Can you turn the heat on it's cold upstairs, baby still sleep, thank goodness for technology. It sucks I don't have split zone, I'm sure it's pricey to install.
I'll look into a humidifier and see if that helps...it's fairly priced, maybe Costco has one, if so, buy, use it, if it doesn't work take it back.

Dry room can exacerbate respiratory and sinus issues. When I'm feeling a cold coming, I usually bust out the humidifier to help me sleep. I don't think a duct cleaning is necessary if you're waking up congested, just a red herring.

Duct cleaning can't hurt. I really should've had one done in our current house, after I finished the basement. Lucky for me, the girl who moved in about 4 months ago- her dad owns his own duct cleaning company
We ended up getting him to do the cleaning, after she complained about not being able to breath. Her dad called me up and pretty much just charged me what it costs him to run everything. I couldn't say no.
The next day or so, I felt my breathing got even worse. I was like "WTF did I just pay for?!" I have year round allergies that I've just come to live with, but it was horrendous the next day. But after that... I haven't had such clean sinuses in years. I couldn't believe it.

I've started toying with the idea of making my own CF parts.
Ive been researching and it looks like I'd need to invest about $750US in equipment and materials to get started. At that price, I would be able to "mass produce" parts and sell them. For less of an investment, I could just make parts for myself, but it is rather expensive to do so. Everything could pay for itself if I made the bigger investment.
This includes making fiberglass forms, to make consistent pieces time and again. This wouldn't just be an overlay, but rather, a legitimate replacement part. The biggest learning curve will be in laying the fiberglass and the CF fabric, for beautiful results. It will take some practice, I'd imagine.
Or, I could just overlay existing pieces, just for aesthetics. Like the silver trim in the TL.. I could lay CF over it, but, it's obviously not reversible and isn't a true CF product. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Im not looking to make anything structural, but rather, just aesthetic pieces. I'm always looking for stuff I could potentially replace with CF on the interior of cars, but no one makes any of it. I'm not sure why, as it seems people would buy stuff like that like crazy. The end results would be true dry-carbon products (using the whole vacuum bagging system, etc).
I likely wouldn't start start doing this until the spring. It's much too cold to work in my garage now, but I do need to be 100% sure on what I'm doing... The winter would give me plenty of time to research and learn how to do it. Seems like a cool hobby to start. Might potentially make a bit of money off it too.

The $750 start up cost would include a sheet of CF cloth. 36" x 50"
its not huge. And the cloth is legitimately expensive. What I haven't been able to determine yet is how many layers of CF fabric needs to be put down for a piece. It can't be just one layer. Can it? I gotta figure it out.
After that though, I could buy cloth in various colours, sizes and patterns. The stuff comes in varying thicknesses too, so I need to figure out how that works. Which do you use?
All this started because I had the crazy idea of making CF intakes for the Nismo. You can buy CF tubes... I figured just cut them as need be, get silicone hose couplers and an air filter, and voila! But the problem is making curved pipes. You simply can't. And that's why no one sells CF intake pipes. You need to be able to pull the mold out of the CF tube once it hardens. Guys have talked about doing various methods, but nothing that is relatively easy and cost effective to do (like heating salt to over 500F and having it harden).
There are CF intakes, but they're a top and bottom piece glued together. Not necessarily CF tubes, but systems that mock OEM intake boxes. I can't imagine I'd be able to make a pretty product like that.
lots of videos on YouTube, and some pretty good sites out there that talk about making your own CF. I must admit though, it's a bit daunting.

i think you changed topic halfway through your post, but it sounded like it was the same one.
